Taylor Walker Dropped...

Well I guess Walker is paying for his lack of versatility at the moment. At the moment he just doens't fit into the structure that NC wants to play. I've said it before and I've said it again. If Tippett and Walker play together it will just not work. Both are FF's, genuine FF's. Sure they have different playing styles but they just can't work together. They just take up each others space. He'll be back though, still very young. Can't wait to see what Hendo can do.

Listening to Phil Harper on AA – sure sounds like a scapegoat reason. Sounds like, he’s young and he’s out of form so its good enough.

Of all the poo efforts i have seen this year from others and walker is the scapegoat. Along with the fact craig is instructing our forwards to play ridiculously.

Taylor seems to be a favourite whipping boy down there.

I was going to say I am stunned, but actually I'm bloody FURIOUS!!!!!:thumbsdown:

I'm sorry but if Walkers form requires him to be dropped, then as a direct consequence, Craig should drop himself from the coaching panel.

For years we have struggled to find a natural goal kicking forward. When we finally get one our genius of a coach decides to use him as a high leading CHF, basically taking away from his game the one thing he has that makes him standout - his ability to kick goals. WHY??????

Walker should be used as a 3rd tall forward, never, ever being required to leave the forward 50. In fact when we zone up, Walker would be the bloke I leave closest to goal. He is a leading-mark taking goal kicker, not a Half back flanker.

I just can't believe this crap. Tippett has been infitely worse in terms of output and is carrying an injury. Surely if one needs to go it would be Tippett for a rest. Or Burton for his inability to do anything that even remotely looks like goal scoring pressure.

OR, how about we drop the duds turning the ball over in favour of jaensch? Surely that would make more sense, or has Craig already forgotten Martin's impact when he started??

I've spent a lot of time defending Craig over the years, but I'm sorry, he has completely lost me here. If he screws Walker up for our club I will never forgive him.

some stats: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/...&pid1=2364&tid2=2&pid2=5&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S

Burton/Walker not too disimlar an output. You'd probably expect the difference alone based on experience let alone who has had the ball kicked to them more.

The nicest way I can think to describe this is that Craigy doesn't respect talent and the natural 'big game player' ability enough.

He obviously puts far more emphasis on seniority, effort and training form. Shit he even respects those qualities more than the ability to execute under pressure based on current coaching/selection form. (not all emphasis - just 'far more')

I am bitterly disappointed its taken me this long to fully appreciate/accept this and its hurting real bad right now.

I am NOT saying guys like Walker don't need to put in or fit into the team culture. They do. But **** ME - the kid is a very very talented forward and he won't even make a few positional changes, that most would agree make sense to at least 'try', to accomodate him (whilst he still keeps teaching him all the other stuff).

I guess they persisted with playing Bernie through some slow patches til he came good - why aren't they doing the same with Walker?? What is it about Tex he has issues with?

And shit - if he says this week 'we did xyz because thats the product the supporters want' I am going to lose objectively because I will bet Stiffy's left nut (or whoever's it was.. macca23 maybe?) the vast majority of supporters wanted to see a product this week where Tex was the given the chance to be the primary leading forward target. So I'm sorry Neil NO NO NO - you are NOT giving the supporters what they wanted.

Utter crap. I'm sorry but this is garbage.
Tipp and Walker can work together, but they need to be given time to do it.
TBH I think a forward line something like:

Walker Tippett Porps
Knights Mckernan Burton

Or Walker Tippett Porps
Knights Burton McLeod/Edwards/Pets/Thompson

are far far far far far more dangerous and logical than what they have been doing so far. Of course it also requires them to be a FORWARD line, not a HBF/wing line.
CRAIG SUCKS.

You may not want to come on tomorrow night after the match if we lose. If you think this is bad, wait until then

So your saying when we lose it will be because Walker didn't play???

Get Real!!!!!

That's why the bookies have us 7/1!!!!
And the Bullies 10's on!!!

No... he's saying that the current "Walker non-selection meltdown" is going to pale into insignificance next to the meltdown caused by Adelaide losing it's 5th game for the season and getting smashed by 15+ goals, failing to show a yelp once again.

He's quite right.

Anyone get the feeling craigy doesn't like him? He may get tired of this crap and walk out of te club at the end of the year.

Hi Vader,

Re coverage in Canberra. Match starts live at 1930 on Fox Main Event channel 518. Phone a friend and see if you can borrow their lounge and send your friend out. Then you'll be able to tear your hair out in the privacy of their own home!! Or surely one of the clubs will have it on live???;)

The question is: do you really want to see it??

Does anyone know if he has a close relationship with any of the senior guys?

Are we missing something, he has this reputation for being cocky and arrogant - are the senior players ending him a message to pull his head in, not Craig. Is it the senior player demanding his dropping?

Ow is this sort if treatment conducive to walkers deelopment as a player? I hope we don't ruin him. hope he kicks 15 this weekend

Look at all the issues caused by idiots in other teams... Richmond for example. Fev. Lovett. Hell, if he's a bit cocky, who cares? At least he is not urinating in restaurant windows and the centre of rape allegations

On one hand, we don’t need nor want a player who will piss off after getting a bit of constructive criticism from his coaches so if he leaves because of this reason – good riddance but on the other hand FFS Craigie play him in his natural position and allow him to develop like he should.

How's Tex supposed to do his thing when the midfielders don't honor his leads, doesn't get the game time he needs to perform and every player on the ground being told to flood the oppositions forward fifty.
Craigy doesn't have the grapes to make the tough decisions when it comes to match selection.
Maybe the senior players have to much control like they did back when Robert Shaw was coaching us. So he's scared that they will turn on him.

at this stage.

Maybe we should play the underperforming senior players like doughty in the ruck then drop him for poor performance. Ony way a ballsy decision will be made I reckon

I'd agree with that theory.

Wouldn't be adverse to an outsider coming in and putting the broom through, like Blighty did.

The amount of players Taylor Walker has outperformed still from out of position roles makes this move idiocy. There is no risk for Craig this weekend he is going to get spanked whatever he does but this is just manufactured easy target skapegoating. The new Mattner project.

It's interesting you ask for pace yet you continue to play and look to select some of the slowest players in the league.
Craig is unsettling his own team now and I've no support for this decision or most of the moves hes making during the game. It seemed like there was not much he could do for a while due to poor preparation and fitness but clearly there were terrible decisions left to make.

At this point Kurt Tippet is the most underwhelming performer for the season for whatever reason he is being mismanaged and kept around making no impact, players like cook and petrenko are hopeless out there. Cook has 5 bloody tackles for the season playing as a follower... Walker had that many against melbourne in one game. Craig's group of flat footed handballers in the midfield sure as hell dont move down the field at any kind of pace if this is supposedly the issue.

The handball to kick discrepancy is ******ed teams are going to beat you every week when you handball backward and sideways and turnover instead of kick forward not sideways and turnover. Kicking turnovers actually buy time and distance at least.

Walker outplayed ten adelaide players against carlton that are still on that list some slightly and some by a vast margin. These other players clearly aren't giving enough output either, yet they mustn't be required to play to as high standard in their regular positions as Walker out of his.
Both Walker and Porplyzia have been playing across half back Porplyzia has played far inferior to Walker, his decision making and disposal has also been worse yet Walker is out and the probably unfit Porplyzia is still in, is this a decision of pace? Yet you have just swapped players with the same athletic ability? Will this player be actually getting to play as a forward? Should he not be played out of position as well just to continue the stupidity.

Craig is straight out lying or confused in his reasoning now...They need some help down there clearly and should be bringing in anyone they can to help. You don't necessarily need to remove a coach when you can get help anyway.
