Taylor Walker Dropped...

Given how poor most of our other young developing midfielders are, they will have to try Otten in the midfield first and hope he makes a better fist of it.

In fact, I sincerely hope we don't see Otten in our back six again, otherwise it means he has stagnated in his development.
Good call.

Some of the guys who have settled comfortably into other roles (Otten, Knights, Porplyzia, Dangerfield, Douglas) will need to graduate to the midfield.

The problem is though that Neil Craig believes that in 2010 Burton is a better choice based on past history. Neil will continue though 2010 trying to stack our team full of senior player regardless of form hoping that it just magically clicks and we win a few games. He pretty much said so in the press conference last night.

Along the lines of "we will press on this season trying to do what we can to give us the best chance to win games of football". Reading between the lines he gave the impression that he doesnt agree with the concept of blooding youngsters and prefers to play what he considers to be his "best 22" irrespective of where we are on the ladder.

I get the impression that NC will ask the big 4 to go around again in 2011 if they agree and I don't think 2010 form or how there body holds up will play apart. I get the feeling that 2010 maybe put down to injuries and just 'bad luck' and NC will load up for another go in 2011 with basically the same squad.

If and when we cannot mathmatically makes the finals, I hope like hell they change that attitude.

I just find it ironic that for someone who likes flexibility in players and is trying to instill it into walker, Craig is proberbly the most inflexible coach there is.

Those who do, play these who don’t coach.

Do as I say, not as I do?

:thumbsu:That is a very good point that I had never thought of before. Shows how hypocritical it is of Craig to demand flexibility in his players when he himself is inflexible and stubborn as a mule. Why does Craigy demand that Walker be flexible enough to play on the HFF/wing but then not demand that, for example, that Simon Goodwin or Edwards learn how to play as a full forward? As ludicrous as the suggestion is, the same concept still applies. Taylor Walker is a gun FF in the making! He just needs time to learn his craft at the highest level and not be shafted out of position to make way for a 32 yr old. NEIL CRAIG, STOP TRYING TO MAKE HIM SOMETHING THAT EVERYBODY ELSE WITH HALF A BRAIN CAN SEE HE CLEARLY IS NOT!

Some of the best managers and coaches in the world were mediocre players who often never even played in the top grade, while many of the best players have been failures; additionally, there isn't a single AFL coach still capable of playing even state league football themselves.

It's always been a ridiculous line.

Agreed. Furthermore, its sadly lacking in correct punctuation.

Surely it wont happen, I have joked that Craig's big plan for 2011 is to sign the "big 4" for 12 more months, but that would actually be the worst list management ever witnessed in football if that was to occur. Craig is smarter than that the titantic has sunk now so I think now being the reactive coach that he is will now finally do something about it.

From the things I’ve heard in the media, I’m almost certain that Brett Burton will go on and so will Goodwin. So, what’s stopping him from begging a somewhat inform Andrew McLeod and Tyson Edwards to go round again.

I don’t know if anyone heard the Mark Bickley interview on MMM last night before the game but he gave a huge endorsement for the big 4 and there form this year.

I can see it going one of two ways. He will quit and we will have a Malcolm Blight 1996 clean out or we will have minimal changes to an aging list and he will give it one more crack.

from those two options i think i could only handle the 1st!

anyone think walker will play this week if he plays well for norwood?
No chance.

Wasn't in our 22 last week and we've got Stevens and Bock returning to the team in the next week or two.

Won't play again this season unless we get a stack of injuries.

I think that both Macca and Goodwin may go another year but Goody to step dow as captain.

Burton has to go as he cant kick further than 35 metres. Also Edwards has to go as he is getting it 30 times a match but turning it over 25 times a match

Unfortunately, we have backed ourself into a corner because we didn't retire any of these players last year. I don't think we can afford to lose all of Trent H, Goody, Edwards, Burton, Macca and probably Thomson in 1 years so I would consider giving Goodwin (not as captain) and Macca one more year after this, albeit reluctantly. If we lost all those players in one hit we wpould experience a massive fall - although we can't fall much further.

Our next coach may not have him at his disposal. When is he contracted to?

There'll be a dozen clubs in his manager's ear saying that he would be first choice for them, and played at FF.
What a lot of crap! Walker is contracted for the next 2 years.
Those close to Tex will confirm that he wants to be a one team player. He is a quality lad who will not spit the dummy because he is dropped. He turns 20 today and realises he has lots of time to develop. It is the supporters who show little faith , not Taylor Walker.

Nice goal from the birdman from outside the 50 metre line...oops have they changed that line to 34 metres Crows Dude?

So was Marty Mattner and look where he is playing now.

Contracts are worth nothing. People get sacked, paid out and traded under contract all the time. Stop being so naive to think differently.
