Absolute joke of a decision, how the hell someone can get suspended for 2 games for what is a textbook tackle is beyond me. Add to that the fact that there were two other tackles on the same weekend that were WORSE than Walker's yet they get off is ridiculous. Next on the AFL's list will be suspending players for kicking the football. What the hell are they doing to this great game, bloody di**heads

so it's now illegal to bring a player to ground during a tackle. if he'd done it after the ump had blown the whistle, i'd agree 100% with rough conduct. but i don't think that happened

It is if they leave the ground and land on their head.

Dont get me wrong, I hate it too and think the game is soft as butter cos of Vlad, but it reminded me of the Lonergan's tackle on Boak back in round 2. The problem with that comparison is that Lonergan was offered a one week ban with an early plea so I knew that Tex was always going to be in trouble.

Underneath is the link to Lonergan's tackle on Boak which resulted in 225 activation points (same amount of points that Walker's tackle was given).

If it wasnt for the carry over Tex would have been offered a one match ban for an early plea which is in line with the Lonergan verdict.

Appealing IMO will be futile gesture, we just have to cop it on the chin and move on. The reality is that the two week ban is a result of Tex's slide in the showdown without that he would have only missed the Carlton game.

I think most people here would be far more willing to accept the ban if NLM also recieved the same ban. his tackle is worse than Walker's from that footage.

Honestly believe his slide in with the knees against Port was a hell of a lot worse than this tackle, and I was suprised he was able to get away with just points and not missing a game.

This particular incident is a joke -

LOL at all the conspiracy theories going on in this thread. Many posters should be embarrassed at what they're writing in here.

When I saw the replay at AAMI Stadium on Saturday, I instantly thought it was going to be 1-2 matches, and that was before I remembered the carry-over points. We've all know for some time the sling tackle is frowned upon in the AFL. Unfortunately Walker did the crime and now needs to do the time. No conspiracy here, the penalty was to be expected.

i expect ppl to be upset, rightly so, but when ppl are coming out with conspriacy theorys and so on its embarassing and over the top.
Do you think the AFL makes any decisions with regards to commercial impact?

+1

While I don't agree that the other two tackles should he been let off, Walkers tackle was clearly the worst of the lot. This will hurt, and I hope the Crows can get it down to a week, but he was always going to be taking a holiday following that tackle...

Intentional (3 points)
High impact (3 points)
Head (2 points)

8 points = Level 5 offence.

Even though it was far more dangerous than Tex's tackle, it wasn't a sling tackle so it's all cool.

Keep up the good work AFL. :thumbsu:

+ Lovett-Murray has a maximum penalty loading of 50% sitting on him for a bad record..

look at the tackle after pridiss is knocked out, the west coast guy no #24 did more of a sling tackle then Tex

not in this case. walkers was a sling tackle, the other 2 arent. its the sling that they are hot about.
That wasn't the question.

Take the draw/fixture for instance. Do you think it is done on fairness, equitability and equal opportunity?

no i dont think it is done in fairness. everyone knows it is done for commercial purposes. the draw/fixture for mine is the biggest blight on our game.

Hi again. Seems Trengove was right with what he thought (see my earlier post). As a supporter of a team who has fallen victim to this interpretation, I understand how you guys feel. Must be said footy died a little to me when Trengove got done. Seemed like a similar tackle to me. Still don't think it's worth a suspension, as I didn't back then

Oh for god sake, we really need Walker against Carlton. 2 weeks is absolute rubbish. Tippett can't afford to have another quiet one.
Well, he wasn't quiet against Geelong, what are you on about? Kicked 2 and took 7 or 8 marks, moving around the ground well. I'm not sure what else you are expecting, that is a pretty decent game.
