stupid thread at this point of time

Tex should not be reported for the following reasons

1. The sling tackle is defined as a tackle with a secondary movement, Tex's tackle was continuous

2. Taylor did not release the ball so Tex is well within his rights to bring Taylor to the ground

3. Taylor was not injured and was able to play on

enough said close thread

He wasn't reported - there wasn't even a free kick paid. The guys on the radio must just be speculating.

Personally, I didn't think it was two actions, he tackled and the players momentum carried him around.

TV commentators said nothing to worry about, good strong tackle

Was this after the game? At the time that it happened, Harley said that it was definitely a sling and would be looked at.

at the time when they looked at the replay

a sling is when there is a secondary motion after the player has released the ball

1. Harry did not release the ball
2. The tackle was continuous (one motion)

nothing to worry about

Oh I agree, but Harley definitely called it a sling at the time, I remember doing this

So ironic that we have criticised his lack of tackling in the past and now he could be reported for one. Really hope he doesn't get done, might dent his confidence a bit. Is also in great form and a week or 2 off might upset that...

I think he will get 2 weeks. Harry Taylor's head hit the ground pretty hard and the AFL don't like any heavy contact with the head. Well played today though.

a hard tackle doesn't = a sling tackle

FFS to be a sling tackle their need s to a secondary movement after the player releases the ball

1. Taylor never released the ball and
2. there was never a secondary movement in the tackle

if Tex gets done it removes the very fabric of our game

A hard tackle is fine. His head clearly hit the surface with solid impact and that is why it will be investigated. Darren Milburn got two weeks for a similar tackle a couple of years ago. Not saying that I agree with the rules but I can almost guarantee he will be given weeks for it.

Nothing wrong with the tackle.

1. Taylor DIDN'T sling him. If you watch the replay, he Taylor fell back with Harry in his arms, whilst rotating. They both hit the ground, it was just an accident that his head hit the ground.
2. No free kick was paid, therefore, the umpires didn't think there was much in it.
3. Harry Taylor played the rest of the game with no obvious effects of the tackle.

I'll be surprised if anything comes of it tbh...

the head hitting the ground only becomes an issue if there was a secondary movement in the tackle or if the tackle continued once the ball had been released

with this in mind given the fact Taylor never released the ball and that there was no secondary movement in the tackle the tackle cannot be ruled as reckless

FFS I wish that PEOPLE both supporters and media folk stopped jumping at shadows and started understanding what the rule is trying to prevent

Oh awesome, if Bone thinks he's gone then we're sweet. :thumbsu:

Cris has become a joke. He has become a drama queen in the media just to get his voice heard. He really beatsd this up. If this was a star player in melbourne their media would just brush it off. Cheris wants to make a headline and hang his own player. Kept saying that it was the main part of todays game.... absolute joke
