Very surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that Walker has points hanging over his head. I am pretty sure he has 90 odd points for his previous sliding offense. This would mean he only has to get cited to miss a week.

Not true. If he gets cited the MRP has the option of suspending him or throwing the case out. If he gets suspeneded we can challenge the decision. This really should be a non issue.

Jack Trengove reckons he'll get 3 weeks lol. It all depends on the 'injury' the geelong doctors file in their medical report. Any sign of concussion and Taylor will get 2 I think. I don't agree with it one bit. Just like I didn't agree with the Dangerfield one. A strong tackle is a strong tackle. Hope he gets off
Don't reckon that will be an issue.

"Harry Taylor exhibited some signs of concussion after the tackle... and I sent him back on to the ground... I'm fired aren't I?"

I was seeking clarification on that. Cheers. If he gets weeks though, it is likely they cannot be reduced by a guilty plee etc? Is that correct?

I don't think they can claim any injury. On TSFS Harry said he passed all the tests afterwards, which meant he could go back on the ground, and pulled up fine Sunday.

If the MRP finds him guilty then his previous record will almost certainly add an extra week to the length of his holiday. He has 93.25pts hanging over his head, with 100pts being the trigger for a 1-week enforced vacation.

If they find he has no case to answer, then that's the end of the matter.

Watched the replay, should be fine to play this week imo.

Across the AFL this weekend, and including the Crows game, there were many other tackles where players were brought to the ground hitting their side/shoulder/head on the ground simultaneously with arms pinned.

The only risk would've been excess injury...Taylor played out the match, so both Taylors will play this week.

I'm quite baffled by the media reporting that Tex is in trouble because he 'lifted' Harry Taylor up in the air before 'slinging' him down. I've watched the replay and at no stage does he lift him up, it is a grab, turn slightly and pull down.

If they do cite Tex and in the charge it mentions two motions, which from what I understand is what is needed for a reckless charge, then challenge it because there wasn't two motions.

IIRC Harry's shoulder hit the ground first, should be OK. Not a sling, more a piledriver :) Good to see Tex going in hard.
I think the decision to use the chair as well will hurt Tex. :p

That's exactly the way I saw it too Nikki. :thumbsu:

I can't for the life of me accept that Walker can get suspended for that tackle. Taylor went off at the 23 minute mark of the first quarter, and then resumed at the beginning of the 2nd quarter, playing out the whole match.

In that whole 7 minutes of footy that Taylor missed, the Geelong doctors tested him for concussion and he was obviously cleared of any sign of concussion as he went straight back on after quarter time.

So, the facts are: - Taylor did not suffer concussion, he was off the ground for very little time and his TOG was actually 90% - the 6th highest for Geelong and more than all but 4 Crows.

It was a strong tackle but not a vicious tackle.

IMO it's nothing more than a media beat-up started by Tom Harley's comments and perpetuated by Rucci with the Victorian press lovingly seizing on it.

It shouldn't be cited by the MRP, but if it is it has to be contested

Lovett-Murray said he was surprised Priddis left the field.

"I thought it was a fair tackle, I just took him to the ground," Lovett-Murray said on Monday.

"I was a bit surprised [Priddis was hurt]. I didn't realise he went off. After the tackle he kept playing and I assumed he was OK."

If given the all clear Lovett-Murray will face Richmond on Saturday night in the annual Dreamtime at the 'G game and said it was an honour to be involved.

Don't just except this and move on. The boys are showing toughness on the field now it's time for the football dept to show the same toughness and take on the MRP.

Please don't just blindly except without a fight.
