AFC the girl guide club of the AFL. Shits me we are so PATHETIC and when I rang and let them know my displeasure at them not appealing Walkers suspension, well they hang up on me cause I said the clubs gives me the shits. "sorry sir I am hanging up because you said shit!!" What is this club coming too?:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::mad:
Cure- 1 tablespoon of concrete. THIS IS CONTACT FOOTBALL not bloody netball!!!!
Haha, that's great :)

Get over it guys.... If the club felt they were little chance of succeeding why challenge?

Look at the positives. It gives Walkers body 2 weeks rest. It also gives Lynch a chance to show he deserves to be in our best 22.... I hope Lynch kicks 5

nice going, you raged at the receptionist..

Need to come out this weekend and smash Carlton in the tackling: Petrenko, you turned Geelong into Scaredy Cats; time to turn the Blues into the Browns.

LOL. :D
But...a very good idea indeed. I hope Pets, Johncock, Patty D and Sloane tackle like maniacs this week. A few others might also come to the party.

Very disappointed that we didn't contest it, just have to move on and prove this weekend we aren't reliant on Tex to kick 3-4 goals every week to win.

Was always going to miss this week at best, even if we contested the medium impact part of the charge. Thought we have have contested that part, but really, it was a sling tackle technically and there is not much we can do about that. Blame the AFL, not the AFC (cannot beleive someone rang the club, thats pathetic). Also, Tex got done for a similar tackle in the SANFL last year, hope he has learnt his lesson now.

Gives Lynch another shot, which is the only positive I guess.

Good question. Not sure, but if so that is another bonus. Wouldnt want 90 points hanging over your head coming in to finals

An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 239.06 points and a two-match sanction.

My guess is his new carry over points is 39.06 points, as that is the amount of points over the 200 mark, which results in a 2 match suspension.

Symbolim isn't completely worthless.

We had 13 goal kickers last week, I think we can manage for a couple of weeks.

Also, he will have about 30 points left over still, so that will carry on to his next suspension if it's in the next 5 years.

does that mean now that Walker has taken the suspension his points go back to zero?
No.

His new offence is worth 225 points. He had 93.75pts left over from the previous offence. Combined, this is a total of 328.75pts. This total is reduced by 25% for a guilty plea, reducing the total to 239.06pts. Serving a 2 week suspension reduces that total by 200pts, which still leaves him with 39.06pts outstanding.

Note that any further offences in the next 3 years will now attract a 20% loading, which is applied to the base activation points. For example, an offence which would normally give rise to 125 pts will now be a 125 + 20% = 150pt offence for Walker.

He isn't the only one to get outed for a contentious tackle, and I can't remember a single one that successfully appealed. Symbolism will cost him another match, I'll take 2 thanks. Some of the posts in here are absolutely idiotic, it is like some posters haven't been watching any other games besides Crows for 2 years.

I think the only way the club can salvage this situation is to organise a "Have a beer with Tex at the footy" promotion against Collingwood.

We could rope off a section in the Northern Stand, we could all sit around and sheepishly sip our beers, then hide them under the seat. Everyone would get a laugh, Tex would have some fun, Melbourne media would go into meltdown.

It's a win-win-win.

More annoyed at the AFL than the AFC at this one. AFC would have had its tribunal team all over it (which i'm sure would include a lawyer these days) and they would have given them a % of them getting the charges dropped. The fact that we have the bye in round 11 had a huge bearing I think. Means if we lost and he got the 3 weeks it would be 4 weeks for Tex without any AFL footy. It just wasnt worth the risk.
I know Tex is a huge part of the team and is vital to our season but we also can't be a one trick pony either. Like many have said it will probably give Lynch a chance to shine. Hurts our chances a bit for the next 2 but with how clean and precise our forward 50 entries have been lately I still give a good chance to win both games.

I'd be spending the next two weeks having someone work on Tex's tackling technique with him, last thing we need is for this to happen again come finals time.

Maybe they can start measuring angles that players are tackled at to determine if it was a reportable tackle.. Give every player a protractor and they then have no excuse :thumbsu:

This is a really good article and highlights the primary issue I have with the report - the tackle was a good one. It was performed within the rules that have been outlined by the AFL to date. The only issue was that the head hit the ground.

We've seen the bump effectively ruled out of AFL because if you hit the head, even accidentally, you're gone. Is tackling going the same way? I don't believe the AFL wants to remove tackling from the game but this result points precisely in that direction.

People actually ring the club? Wowee do you not have anything better to do!

This thread is a fair crack up...get a grip FFS!
Got in before I did.

Clearly the club looked at all their options before deciding to either accept the penalty or challenge it at the tribunal. Looks like the club made the right choice by accepting the penalty as it would have been a long shot at getting off or getting it reduced, and the risk of it becoming 3 matches (include a bye and it's effectively 4 matches) was not worth it.

At the end of the day Walker did wrong, and has been appropriately punished for it. Given the 90-odd points he had carrying over, 2 matches was always going to be the minimum he would have ended up with.

Some people should seriously think before posting

I honestly think his slide against Port was more reckless/dangerous/sloppy than the tackle, and I was expecting him to get atleast a week back then. I wouldn't have been upset if that was the case.

This tackle though, this one annoys me

If the Crows want to make a statement or a symbolic gesture of some kind, all they need to do is just call the local media in, and say what we're all thinking.

No need to drag out Walkers suspension another game, when the point of Nahas & NLM's non-suspension could be made using another method.
