Love him. How he went 23 in his draft year I'll never know.
presumably the foot thing that kept him out of half of this year had something to do with it. bottom age too iirc.
Look at this, it appears he wasn't as highly rated as others, mainly Rance, and to a lesser extent (position wise), Myers and lolwaitforit, Henderson.

Quickly turning into my favourite player.

We hit the jackpot with Pears, Hurley, Hooker as our future defence, honestly.

The best teams of every era have always had a reliable, tough, flexible defence. These three will only get better as the years go on.

Watched closely Hurley ( only a cameo for 20 minutes ) and Pears play on Tippett.

Even taking into account Pears good game - Thought that Hurley looked a better match up for Tippett - Hurley is a better match up on the power forwards.

Even though he performs admirably, I prefer Pears as the CHB not on the last line of defence. I believe he is a much better CHB than FB.

I also think that there is the potential for Pears to play the Fletcher role in the future, taking the third forward (or loose) and cutting off leads, offering support to the main threat and setting us up with his good kicking and run.

Were you at the ground?

Damn, lucky guy. That would've made things easier to really study. I couldn't pick up more than what everyone else could see on the TV.

I noticed Tippett up against Hurley in our forward line at one stage of the last quarter. I am not sure how that happened? Hurley took him 2 the cleaners.

What I got from this is that either one of them can play well against Tippett, this is really good for us. Next year Walker, who also plays well against us, will probably be gone from the Crows. This means we will need to contain Tippett going forward, Hurley or Pears can do this, and we will have Hooker to take on whoever else they decide to put up there.

I think they get a different feed in HK. yaco saw Ling beat Stanton in the first half, but from the ground I didn't see them play on each other until the 3rd quarter.

I've always said that Tayte Pears will be a better player for us than Hurley. With Hooker coming back next week it will free up Hurley to go forward which will help us out so damn much. I'm looking forward to next week.
This is definitely not fair considering the great effort Hurley put in against both Geelong and Richmond; comparisons are never fair.

Why can't we just say that Pears played a great game against Adelaide? Great to have you back in the Squadron Tayte!! :thumbsu:

With Pears' lack of height he really makes up for it with the use of his body in out maneuvering his opponent in a marking contest.

He is 191cm and compared to Hurley he is 2 centimeters shorter (193cm), would've thought that Hurley is taller than that

Interesting.

Think that Hooker is more comfortable at CHB - that makes both Pears and Hooker.

Think that Hurley is the most comfortable at true FB - You would think one of Hooker or Pears may spend time at FB - if Hurley spends time forward.

Definitely think that Hooker is a much better prospect as the third man - reads the play well and is better mark - although Pears has better foot skills.

Think the difference is that Hurley is more of a body player - tries to stop the forward from getting to the contest, getting his arms up, pushing the opponent away from the drop zone - Pears relies more on reading the play, and jumping above his opponent
