RD 19 TD Rant of Victory over Geelong

Pros:

  • Dawes was Okay getting Scarlett out of the Game
  • Being on Top of the Ladder
  • Didak having a Good Game
  • Goldsack playing Well
  • Great Team Effort
Cons

  • Terrible Umpirig
  • Reid's Injury - Who will play CHB?
  • Terrible Goal Kicking need to kick better then that During the Final Series

Hopefully we does get big heads after this win

well done, manged the obligitatory Dawes bullet point!
:D:D

How awesome was Didaks cenering pass to Wellingham in the last quarter from the corner of his eye :thumbsu: twas unbelievable!

Nathan Brown will take his spot imo. Give Reid a rest, dont know how serious it is..

OMG, the world's have aligned, Dave has "nailed" the game in one post.

I agree with everything Dave, Dawes' job was to keep Scarlett effectively away from the ball, and he did that well.

Kicking may just us a flag, that and injuries are the only 2 factors between us and 2010 premiership IMO.

I just want to give some credit to MaCaffer too, wow, what a game, he killed Milburn, amazing, the Caff is as reliable in a one on one contest as anyone we have, how good has he become.

Caff did have a good game and took some very good marks

Last year Brown and Presti managed well together at FB/CHB until Brown hurt his knee against the Hawks, cant see why that wont work now...

Goal kicking was a worry, but we hit the post 6 times so I'm not as worried as I would if we were missing by long distances.

Got the 2002 Game Box Set

Went down to Southlands with my England Cousin and Aunty and Got it from JB HI FI for $30.

Looking Forward to watching those 3 games :thumbsu:

Wow, emphatically sums it all up. Ball’s tackling was a key too I thought, putting the likes of Ablett into the dirt showed dominance (in the midfield) over the powerhouse team. He deserves a bullet... point! ;)

Dave, would you like any changes to the rules? If so which ones?

What are your thoughts on:

Goal line technology?
Skimming the post = a point or should it be a goal/point as appropriate?
Interchange capping?
As has been suggested, having huge flames come out of the post when it's hit by the ball to help people down the other end know whats going on. Both goal posts light up when it's a goal, outside posts when it's a point. etc

thoughts?

What about having the goal umpires perched on top of penny-farthings so they get a better view. Also, good for the aesthetics of the game, should appeal to Kevin [strike] F [/strike]Bartlett.

LOL.
Ridiculous yearnings for you boyhood again Spicey....:D

I would however like to see the dustcoats and hats bought back.:thumbsu:

I stopped riding them when my pantaloons got stuck in the spokes and I fell. Had a magnetic humours belt on for 3 weeks.

why not have the umpies strapped into a harness on stretchind rubber bands and they can be on all levels and in an instant... will add something extra to the game for bored kids or when watching a North Freo game at the G

In bikinis and with bigger jugs and I'm sold.:thumbsu:

What about the potential for collision injuries?

Should we consider covering the field in a soft substance...perhaps jelly?

Or a lower tech version might be that rope netting they have at playgrounds, strung between the goal-posts.

The umpire wears a spider outfit and climbs to the most advantageous position. He / she must have extra legs sown on...for the aesthetics of the game.

hahaha I could imagine Didak and Neon having target practice at spiderump :

The other change I was thinking of was having two balls in play. One would be completely independent of the other so, if ball 1 (B1) went out of play to be thrown in, B2 wouldn't stop, and would continue on. If both B1 and B2 were kicked for goals at either end, you'd have two ball ups in the center. If you managed to kick both through for goals within 20 seconds of each other that team gets 25 points and gets a combo, which would be indicated next to that teams score with a flashing bold letter C. The team would have the combo for 5 minutes, and would have special abilities, which you could nominate before the game. Eg, disallowing handball for the opposition for the combo period, getting 50 points for a poster, making the opposition play with 14 men, every free is a 50 (good for Geelong).

Probably too subtle a change for the AFL to be interested in, THOSE.

Well, so long as Kevin's happy, that's all we care about.

I think in an effort to protect the asethitics of the game and make sure the game is played true to the old days we should go back to paying players amateur pay rates. Players then being forced to work full time will have less fitness and skills, this will lead to more contests and according to Kevin and the AFL a better looking game. That said we will still need to make sure that the players are protected because of course it is injuries and player welfare we are concerned about so the money we save on paying players will go into making sure the moon surface of the dome is fixed and we will also have to make the game no contact, so we will see the first "no contact, contests."
