That had to take it out of Vingegaard

Hindley is a tag job and good time trial away from winning the Tour
Hindley needs to play this like Kirky. In Vingegaard’s back pocket for the next 2 and a bit weeks. Tomorrow will be interesting to see who still has legs as that would have taken a bit out of a few.

Stage 8: Libourne to Limoges 201km

Stage 8, Saturday 8 July: Libourne-Limoges, 201km

A second bunch sprint on paper, but there’s a twist: this is a long stage, and the final 70km offer little respite, being constantly up and down. It will be a tough one to control, so teams without sprinters will fancy their chances in a break. The tough finale favours a strongman such as Mathieu van der Poel or his Alpecin–Deceuninck teammate Søren Kragh Andersen.

Might be an opportunity for an early night tonight. Another sprint stage and it's not looking like anyone will be able to take on Phillipson. Groenewegen has the top speed to do it but keeps getting shuffled back in the last couple of kilometres. He seems to be a bit gun shy in using his bulk to strong arm other riders out of the way and it seems if he even looks sideways, the commissaires are on his arse like a nasty rash.

Absolute awful result for Aussie team Jayco Allula. GC rider Simon Yates who has a bad habit of sitting too far back in the peloton gets caught up in a crash about 6km out. Loses 55 seconds on GC as a result dropping to 6th and about 2.30 off the podium.

Groenewegen doesn't look to be at his best so I'd write off him for a stage win. Might be up to someone like a Chris Harper to go into a break and target a stage win to avoid walking away with nothing to show.

Stage 9

Stage 9, Sunday 9 July: St Léonard de Noblat-Le Puy de Dôme, 182.5km

A stage devoted to the memory of France’s favourite racer, the late Raymond Poulidor, starting in his home town and finishing on the extinct volcano that was the site of his greatest exploit. The finish climb is back after 35 years’ absence and its insanely steep final 4km.

This final climb is insane.

So frustrating that a key moment in the race is influenced by moron spectators that insist on getting too close to the riders. If you are on the black stuff, you are in the riders office. Move the * back! There is 5 metres of road and roadside behind these clowns which would have meant there was plenty of room for the motos to get through.

and again just now a *en arm of a spectator trying to take a picture skittles the peloton, almost took yellow out

Honestly, how hard is it to keep a foot behind the white line so you don't narrow the roadway too much and keep you hands tucked in. ******* theatre goers with no awareness of the riders and potential positioning.
