I've only had 10 days off but been on the PC writing lesson and unit plans 4 of those days, plus 2 days of T&D.

I'd work up to 60 hours a week - monday to friday.

Not full time atm, but allow about 55 hours per week when I am. As for holidays, I allow about half - and half for planning, T&D etc. I am doing relief teaching atm. So far this year I have been assaulted twice (punched kicked scratched etc, countless times in each attack), sworn at countless times (f*** you - you can't f****** make me etc) intimidated, mocked and threatened. The oldest kids I will teach are Year 5s.
Starting to wear a bit thin.

High school teacher?

Yeah, wife used to be a research scientist but decided to teach as she thought she could make science fun for students. Because of her doctorate she had to do a one year teaching degree which always makes it funny when someone says " those who can do, those who can't teach" as my wife points out that she is one of the credited scientists on the project to create a frost tolerant strain of wheat...so she can do but she chooses to teach.

I just feel sorry for my kids, if they can't get a 20 in Biology by age 10 there will be no summer holiday for them that year, just revision

I left a $20 note on my desk for a week. At the end of the week it was a $50 note!

They are 'special' and often wonder how they go in the real world and I guess tonight proves they just like going to online forums to talk about teaching. Each to their own I guess.
