I was simply replying to your post, which despite being well written and slightly amusing, was just a part of your life waisted typing about the fact that the team that just beat yours doesn't have much money. That is some groundbreaking stuff.

We are not rich, never have been, and probably never will. We have been "dead" ever since I can remember, but I have seen my team play in 3 Grand Finals. How does losing to us make you feel?

Regarding your comments on Carey, after what he did to my footy club, IMO he is fair game to opposition supporter jokes etc. What he did on the field however, you and your type will never see anything like it again. Our current captain was not my first choice for the job after Carey. He nearly died, had a knee reconstruction, then learned that his wife was havin an affair with his best mate and captain, and still leads my team onto the ground every week and I would not want anybody else doing it.

We might go under next year, or in five years, or never at all, but I will know that North worked twice as hard as Richmond with half the wealth, and in the process has made Richmond give second rate a bad name.

Just a philisophical question for ya (no sarcasm or sadism intended)-

What is more the paradox?

Richmond is mostly disappointing for the last decade but can still manage great crowds, a respectable membership and is financially secure (after being on the brink)

or..

North has been, argurably the best performing team on the field for the last decade, but can only manage poor crowds, a poor membership and is in financial dire straits (and is still on the brink)?

As for the question, I don't know.

North "bad" membership is a bit of a falicy IMO. Sure, compared to the success we have had it aint great, but it has been better than St.Kilda's, Footscray's and Melbourne's for the past 4-5 years. I know for a fact that North are confident that the success we had in the 90's, will transfer into a fairly strong suporter base as Hawthorn has seen after the 80's. The question is whether or not we will be around to see the result of this success.

I am not going to insult us both by wishing Richmond good luck because we both know that I won't mean it, so heres to another missed finals opportunity!!

Fair call Northbhoy,

Your club will probably see your membership "fruit" appearing on the vine in about a decade, after some good planting over the last few years. You just have to hope that you can stick it out until those dividends arrive.

I honestly wish your team stability and security. I hate 'em, no doubt about that, but it is hate for other teams that drives this competition, so I'd like North to be there.

But having said that, I pray that you never beat Richmond again.

So, I'll let this thread die the death it deserves and to show there are no hard feelings, I'll send you a brand new DVD of North Melbourne's 1974 grand Final appearance.

Hope the Tiges die a horrible death this season but I hope I can do so for a very long time. Footy would be boring if everyone loved each other.
