Just had a look at the final 22 and Teague hasn't been able to secure a spot in the teams best 22. Is it just a case of not being able to find a suitbale matchup against Melbourne or a sign of things to come?

Thoughts?

FWIW, i'm a fan of Teague's so i'm hoping the selectors have picked the team on "horses for courses" and have not found a matchup for him.

Also left out of NAB game & has not had a lot of game time in practice matches, so I don't think it's lack of a match up for this game. Lacks pace & future doesn't look good. But wasn't he just signed up for 2 years?

Sporn would be on his last chance.

teague got torn a new ass by Robertson in their optus oval encounter last year.

who else could he matchup up forward?

Neitz? obviously no
Resting Ruck? no
Miller? no
Robertson? doesnt have the strength, speed, skill so no
Bruce/Green/Sylvia when resting up forward? yeah probably but all 3 of those players could easily get away from him and kick 2-4.

has been quite a slide from not only B&F but didnt he get a most couragous player in the AFL or something in that same year?

Yeah he did win the Players Association's Most Couragous in 2004.

Teague will be a depth player until his contract is up and if a trade comes along, I'm sure the club would off-load him for any sort of fair return.

Unfortunately he's just not going to get any quicker. I don't think it's as much of a problem as our coaching staff does, but I'm not making the decisions :(

Fantastic.
Agreed. Maybe the first sign that the depth at the club has improved. With Saddington, Kennedy, O'Hailpin, Hartlett and Blackwell pushing for senior selection over the next few weeks, the pressure is going to be right on the 22 picked for this first game.

Good point mediumsizered. Our depth is starting to improve - slowly but surely.

Damn I was hoping he'd line up on Robbo again. :)

Who do you think will get Robbo now?

Looking at the 22 that were named, I can foresee Sporn having the first go at him. Did a great job on Hird a couple of years ago, but is certainly at the crossroads now. A good showing on Robbo would do wonders for his confidence.

Exactly. Teague shouldn't just be an automatic selection imo. It's good to finally see some competition for spots in the team, especially with our backline's recent record.
