Not much love for colledge. Think he's more likely than many of these others to be running around in the 22, actually has some exposed form too.
Yeah he's disappeared off the radar but I reckon he could be something. Still only just turned 20

This is what excites me being a west coast fan, in two years time west coasts best 22 could be the same as this year, where as teams like freo will have a whole new spine filled by kids.
Yeh we can definitely build a great team around the strengths we have. I'm interested to see how Sheppard and sheeds careers progress over the next 2 years. Mcginnity on the other hand, I foresee his future and there is no need for shades.

A pretty conservative guess, ages at start of season.

Bennell(26) McGovern(24) Brown/Schoey(28)
Hurn(29) Mackenzie(28) Sheppard(25)
Rosa(30) Selwood(26) Gaff(24)
Masten(27) Darling(24) Newman(23)
Lycett(24) Kennedy(29) LeCras(30)

Naitanui(26) Yeo(23) Shuey(26)

Duggan(20) Sheed(21) Wellingham(28) Waterman(20)

I'd like to put in another small forward, but I don't think Karpany will make it, and I don't see Cripps' ceiling as that high. Would be good to swap Wellingham for Coniglio.

Nice Suma, Pretty much how the teams heading. The age range is perfect. Rosa I think will be abit banged up and replaced by someone with better speed, composure or foot skills. Cavka looks like he could become a winger

Wafl, which is at least broadly comparable to afl, as opposed to tac cup etc which i much further off the pace imo.

Perhaps. Colledge is a nice runner, he doesn't stop moving which is why he's making the transition to the midfield. His numbers aren't good for an AFL midfielder playing at WAFL level.

His actual contested ball work needs more time, as does his positioning at stoppages. Given his lack of pace he needs it to be grades above what it currently is to make it. So while he's physically ahead of others, and more mature. There is a good chance we'll find more natural midfield talents who make the transition to AFL a little easier.

I've noticed he seems to be used as a link up player for East Perth, which I've found strange, given his future at AFL would seem to be as a big bodied, contested ball winner. Is it a deliberate part of his development or just the way he naturally plays the position do you think?

I'd like to think we that Lamb or Cavka will be pushing Rosa for his spot on the wing and Sheppard will need to lift to another level if he is to hold down a HBF role. I do not believe Clown Prince Wellingham will be on the list in 2017.

I like where the list looks to be heading and another couple of years under Simpson (in terms of list management, player development and tactics) should see us being ready for a crack at the flag.

How he naturally plays. He's always been strong overhead and smart across the half forward line, so that side of his game comes easy to him.

S.Hurn - A.Rance - M.Brown/W.Schofield
D.Swallow - E.McKenzie - D.Rich
H.Bennell - J.O'Meara - A.Gaff
M.Lecras - J.McGovern - J.Darling
J.Martin - J.Kennedy - C.Rioli

N.Naitanui - E.Yeo - L.Shuey

S.Coniglio - S.Lycett - L.Duggan
Sub = L.Franklin

Relying a little bit on the go-home factor and the competency of our recruiting/trading staff but still wouldn't be surprised to see this side lining up (against what will probably be the bulldogs) round 1 2017.

Lol @ Franklin.

Wouldn't think Swallow, Bennell, O'Meara, Rich & Coniglio are out of reach.

Highly doubt Rioli & Martin.

Probs CHB. Kennedy/Darling/Resting Ruck/Potentially Lamb is pretty tall and effective enough. The value he has taking marks in defence outweighs what he would add up forward.
I still think you can't waste that contested marking ability down back. If our midfield improves we should see less need for match-saving marks down back, and if Kennedy or Darling don't have separation on their defenders, having a plan B to just set it up for McGovern to jump at would be priceless.

The problem really being forced to play Lycett or Sinclair as a KPF for 60% of the game, which makes it difficult to fit Gov up there without us being too cumbersome. Ideally IMO both Lycett and Sinclair miss, and McGovern plays Lynch's old role as third KPF and pinch hits in the ruck. But Naitanui doesn't seem to have the tank and McGovern's maybe just not quite good enough in the ruck.
