He'll be back in this week and that soft **** from Claremont will get a rest, too hard for him against the Port boys.

I wouldn't drop Medhurst this week. He's usually good value at Subi. Don't forget last time every wanted him dropped he kicked 9 goals against Brisbane.

Next away game though............

That's like saying if your grandmother had balls she'd be your grandfather! The fact is Medhurst has now become an embarrassing liability, in any other team he would've been dropped weeks ago. How long do you tolerate sub standard performances. He's gone!! and it will do him the world of good and he'll come back a better player.

Yep, both the small forwards have been given "alot of rope" this year and other than Meddies 9 goals against Brissie he has come up very short, mainly on the application front. Farmer although poor early, has extracted the digit and has shown a marked improvement in his application to get to the ball. It is time to pull in the rope, someone like Browne in a pocket could pop up with 3 or 4 goals. Don't reward mediocrity.

The team must be rotated at times to suit various conditions and unfortunately some "valued" players can be "hurt" in the short term to make these moves.

Just remember that this is probably Shane Parker swansong year, so someone must be ready to play his role 100% from round 1 next season. Before anyone asks, no Parker should not be forced out, he was solid last week and I doubt whether anyone at Freo would have been able to keep Richo to under 5 goals.

Medhurst at Subi this year.

Round 1 (Carl) - 4.2
Round 3 (Adl) - 1.4
Round 5 (Geel) - 2.1
Round 6 ( WC) - 1.0
Round 7 ( St.K) - 2.1
Round 9 (Brisb) - 9.0
Round 11(Mel) - 2.1

Subi Avg - 3 goals 1 behind.
Away Avg - 0.6 goals, and thats only because he scored three v collingwood. He hasn't scored any goals in any other away games.

Simmonds Subi avg - 1.4 goals. away avg - 2.4 goals.
Farmer Subi avg - 2 goals. away avg - 0.8 goals.

I know stats don't tell the whole story, but its pretty obvious Medhurst can play at subi yet fails abysmally away. So, why not drop him for the away game.

tis as good a philosophy as any ;)

But you cant really continually drop a player for away games and play him for home games, eventually you have to insist a player perform away. But a 1 off or even a 2-3 game stretch in the wafl wouldnt go astray.

In regards to parker, i think we're covered down back, its not a problem. He earns his place now, and I think McPharlin would have been the only one to lessen Richo's impact (but we need his run elsewhere). When Parker goes, we have players like Woods and Thornton to cover the gap, and developing players that look the goods ala Mundy.

Would be nice to have another goal sneak in the squad to put some pressure on medhurst.
