Not entirely convinced on this as yet but here's a 4th or so draft. Got $165,000 in the kitty so might turn Tuohy into Heater but I reckon Tuohy is a good chance at being a good D5/D6.

To an extent I agree. I've been looking at how to fit GWS players in to my team given how much I think they are going to dominate this year. However, as you correctly point out, they are evenly spread right across the park. I reckon I'll end up with at least 3 (Shaw, Kelly and Greene) but at his price and with the form he has shown so far in the preseason it is too much to ignore. The fact that Coniglio is out for the first six weeks or so just makes him more of a lock for me. The one thing I hope he improves on is his DE. There were many games last year where he scored more DT points than SC points, indicating a low DE (without having looked at his overall DE, just guessing). I do believe he will go close to 110+ which is why I am starting with him. 155 in JLT 1, 101 in JLT 3 (Which to be fair is probably the best guide given the strength of the team they fielded) and 87 in JLT 2 from only a half. Reckon he has a huge ceiling. No right or wrong here. So many mid pricers on offer this year so these kind of selections you want to get right. I'm confident that, barring injury, he will justify a place in my side for the entire season.

Coniglio and Whitfield. He'll average 105 or thereabouts and is only $470k: seems like a good option.

Why is it that virtually no one else seems to have Rance in their side? I do, but maybe I should reconsider other options? He avg 98.5 in 2016 and only missed 2 games @ $535.6k I thought he was good value [emoji848]

Shhhh

You could use that cash to up grade taranto in the rounds has most peeps have 6 mids premos.

Oh forgot insult. you look like a cartoon character who likes putting things in your mouth sometimes many things at once.

Why?

Because there is a pool of dons rookies available....nope
Because there is a pool of gws rookies available....nope

Oh yeah its 2017 and like every year before it, it's a completely different set of circumstances

New rules
New byes
New players
New coaches

Strange most interviews I've stumbled across from SC and RDT winners all mention get points early, they all state its bloody hard to make up points as everyone starts getting "completed" sides.

I don't have any of anyone's answers, hell i don't even have my own.
But there is plenty of ways to start the season

FWIW i spent Monday arvo messing around with a 1/0/7 fwd line...it had lots of positives but I'm not sure I'm that brave. I do know some who are set on this strategy this season and have finished top 1000 for the past 3 years.

Plenty of options on strategy
Why? It's hard enough nailing a couple of speculative picks/ potential breakouts. This team quoted is trying to nail
Z. Tuohy
C. Mills
C. Salem
Z. Jones
J. O'meara
D. Swallow
All of whom have never been premiums( unless you want to count swallows 103 odd Ave and therefore that would be great for his price) and 3 of which may be injury prone.
Then your hoping Fyfe and Beams defy their injury history, hoping titch does stand up in a new side and then there is the forwards and the rucks where anything could happen with his chosen players but all 5 in Sandi, S. Martin, Higgins, Ryder and roughy all pose some risk as well.
Has anyone seriously won overall taking this much risk? There's like 12 midpricers and only 6 premos (If I counted correctly) there's not enough scoring power. I just can't see this been a competitive team in the long run but best of luck to those who like this set up. As I said if he pulled this off he would win over all but I believe that would be a miracle and will be using up trades nice and early. There is just too much risk and there's a very low percent that this works.
We also have no idea how many rookies we will have until round 1. Every year there is all this fear around not having rookies and round 1 swings around and bam it works out just fine.

Finally got around for a quick pick! Thoughts please... should I run back to the drawing board?

Very risky indeed

Hey guys,
Very much a work in progress. Will change a lot between now and the weekend!

Still tossing up on Swallow, Marchbank, Steele, Nank. Also might go with Stef instead of Gawn (depending on Spencer/Archie Smith)

Thoughts so far?
Cheers

I would drop marchbank down to a cheaper rookie, doc or shaw down to someone slightly cheaper and upgrade one of swallow/omeara to a premium, good side though
Also keen on stef

Rookie and gun strat is also fraught with danger.
Most of our trepidation is the seemingly poor JS of many of the Rookie options available to us this year.
Get the best rookies and bam! You're a legend, **** them up and by round 4 its white flag time....

I look at my team and so many rookies are shakey and flakey! I have the same rookes as everyone else BTW.

It's hard to say really

Randoms like Parfitt/Miles/Barrett might get a good run of games or we all might have to tinker & have hardly any 117-123k rookies on the field, it's gonna be interesting...

I'm awaiting quite a few rookie surprises, people are going to need to be flexible this year with struture.
Teams selections and extended benches going to screw with peoples teams regardless of preseason planning.

So your basing your whole argument on

Tuohy, new club, new role, proven capable history
Mills, seriously talented, earmarked for increased mid time as well as a key component of bringing the ball out of defence
Salem...i agree is speculative
Zac Jones...id suggest you check the swans board, jlt matches for his role (which he was destined for in 2016 until he got injured)
Omeara...only been touted as the mist insanely talented player since moses parted the red sea, jlt form and his appearance speak for themselves
DSwallow..see Omeara

Using the above as examples as to why the strategy won't work is absurd imo

But hey good luck with your own strategy and i personally hope you do well

How many rookies have you currently got onfield?

Good luck with the mid price madness selection aswell.
