well my brain has completely turned to mush and i have zero idea what i want my team to look like come round 1.

i think the best thing to do is wipe my entire team, stop reading these boards for next 8 days and then start again late on Thursday afternoon before the first bounce with a clear head.

I have had so many teams but this is the latest. My selection of Oliver is the one I'm not locked on. But really think he can break out.

Gawn is in my team until such time that Spencer is named round one.
Try going Oliver down to a Hibberd and Omeara up to a premo and see what your team ends up looking like.

V3

Def: Shaw, Johannisen, Vince, Hampton, Stewart, EVW ( Guthrie, Otten)

Mid: Danger, Ablett, Kennedy, Martin, Fyfe, Kelly, SPP, Brodie (Miles, Barrett, Parfitt)

Ruck: Goldstein, Nank (Cameron)

Fwd: Dalhaus, Franklin, Jroo, Steele, Taranto, Black ( Eddy, Pickett)

Thoughts?

Couldn't sleep last night. Might have been because my rucks were Nankervis and Sandilands, maybe it was the 3 mid pricers in my forward line, could have even been my girlfriend waking up every 15 minutes to run to the toilet because she ordered the seafood.

I decided it was the first two and told myself i needed to make a change.

Assuming the rookies get up, this is the team I'm going into round 1 with.

Defence is just like every other teams. Makes sense, it's the only line where it looks like we'll get some decent rookies, so I think going 3/0/5 is sensible. It's annoying though, there's so many players who can go 95+ but unfortunately we're having to put in rookies wherever we can.
I don't really understand the Tuohy, Mills or Lloyd picks. There are so many good players in that 500+ category, it just doesn't seem like the right line to be taking a risk.

Midfield I've decided to go with a 5/1/5 setup. I might tinker around with the premos here (I keep going between Hannebery, Selwood and Neale), but I'm not really sure that matters. Danger isn't a huge must for me this year, but I like the idea of being able to lock in a captain from round 1 even though I think he'll drop in price.
I've decided O'meara over Swallow and Beams, I'm not confident any of them will play a whole season, so O'meara for me represents the best value - 100k cheaper than Beams and I think he'll only average 5-10 points less.

Rucks I'm trying not to make all that complicated. Whenever I've done half decently in SC, I've minimised mid-price risks. I went the TBC option a few years ago and that completely ****ed me over. 99% confident Goldy will play as solo ruck, and if he does, he represents great value and I reckon he'll be above 600k by his bye. Gawn is really tempting, but I decided to go for the fallen premo in Martin who looks like he'll be rucking solo, has looked great in the preseason and won't go down in value. In my mind they're set and forget.

Forward line is an absolute mess this year. Dahl is the only must have (I think Roughy isn't far behind - he's going 95 with ease). I decided I wasn't going to gamble with midpricers, and believe me, it's hard not to. Steele, Billings, Nank, Wingard, Higgins, they've all been in my team at various stages, but I have decided to play it conservatively and trust that Buddy and Macrae will go top 6.

I've got about 50k left in the kitty to tinker with rookies.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Look at Nank up forward particularly for teams with Sandi. Unless you have a playing r3. Or Ryder as a forward. If Martin pays solo go him and Sandi.
Agreed, if you're going with Sandi it makes much more sense going with Nank as an F3 or F4. Reckon R1 should be either Gawn or Goldy and no one else.

I've deadset lost the plot.. :drunk:

With the ruck conundrum I simply cannot select a team I'm happy with

Keep it simple, pick the R1 who you think will be the best scoring ruck at the end of the season and decide whether you want R2 to be the second best scoring ruck or whether a risk in Sandi is worth it. Don't over-complicate it for the sake of squeezing in another mid pricer in the forwards.

Very hard to keep it simple when I don't like any of the rucks
Sandi is locked at R2, R1 is a joke though

  • Gawn is overpriced and Spencer is lurking
  • Goldy had an interrupted preseason, is almost $600k and playing for a much weaker side
  • Stef burnt me bad last year so I'm still hurting, I also think Archie will play 10+ games this year
  • Mummy and Grundy won't average over 100 imo, so $520k-$540k is a lot for them

I think Ryder can go 92-100, so for $420k I'll hapilly throw him in at R1

blah, it's a joke
