After all the talk of some of you lads putting Witts in your rucks i was intrigued, so i decided id have a crack at trading Gawn to Witts and see what i could do with all dat cash money, and boy oh boy it opened up a whole lot of very bloody tempting upgrades, by the 420 odd k freed up by the above deal it enabled me to go Vlaustin>Adams, C.Hampton>Z.Jones and Jai Simpkin>Sam reid and yes im very aware the last 2 would be risky picks.

Now call me crazy but i think ill gain about 50 points a week roughly with the above 3 trades (not to mention when simpkin/hampton dont play) and im not sure if Gawn will score 50 points more than Witts a week. Thoughts? or is this a rediculous idea and i should bring big max back in like it never happened?

Gawn will outscore Witts by 115-120 pts when Witts is dropped to the 2's.

Ridiculous. I only start guys who are "burning up the track", and "very likely to see more midfield minutes".
Hahaha. What about training the house down. WCE are certs for the flag because many of our team are in fact, training dwellings into the ground.

I don't know about current guys but an ex-player has certainly tried to burn dwellings to the ground.

Have been eyeing off Witts for a little while, after initially starting with Grundy as my R2.

Even though I think Grundy could finish Top 3, the $ freed up by having Witts is too tempting an option. It allows me to roll with Murphy and Swallow who I think are majorly underpriced and could easily bust out 90+ each, whilst making $ - thereby making it a cheaper venture to upgrade them in time.

Only thing that annoys me is that Ryder/Witts share the same bye, so will need to pray for coverage that week and upgrade one that week. As such, I reckon Ryder could get the chop entirely, or I put Ryder in the ruck and downgrade Witts to a FWD rookie.

I could be wrong, but I'm not buying into this "loaded" MID caper.
It'll all come crashing down when not enough Fwd/Ruck/Def rookies are available but plenty of mid rookies.

Until then, I'm loving my team right now.:p

Possibly in the future too.:p:p:oops::(

Seems to me the safe picks are in the backs, light mids and fwds seem the place to generate cash.

Surely Shaw, is a lock for 110SC at his price.
I dunno. Seems like any other year at this stage regarding strength of rookies.

Of course will be plenty of options. Don't who where the theory is coming from that there isn't strong rookies about!?

Yes, for now. Give it 24-27 hours and the shuffling will begin.

I like that team a lot. I agree 100% with the Swallow and Murphy reasoning and could be 550k by the end if fully fit. And i had the exact same thinking for that witts and ryder combo, will most likely downgrade witts or upgrade, cause hopefully he has made some cash

My MIDs as they stand are 5/2/1.

I would have gone for rookies in the spots of Murph and Swallow and splurged on other areas of my team, but IMO Murph and Swallow are too underpriced to ignore; especially considering they possess the scoring capabilities of a premo based on previous scoring output. The beauty is they also act as cash generators themselves like a rookie, but with the ability to smash out more consistently high scores.

I think you need 4 MID premos at a minimum in order to sustain a consistent score early on.

I know which option i'll be taking. :thumbsu:

Current team I've been rolling with for over 24 hours.

Not sure on McDonald or McGrath at his price, so if scharenberg or Hampton impress in the preseason I'll downgrade mcgrath to one of those two and use the extra money to turn McDonald into rance.
McGrath is well worth the money if he is best 22. He will certainly go up if he is constantly picked. I know little about him, but I'm seriously considering Cam Mac (Freo) even at that price if fwd rookies are dicey.

Can you gimme a bit of info on McGrath ?

Im by no means an expert on the draftees. There are many posters that spends hours and hours every weekend going to watch these kids play in the tac cup.

But from what I know of him he has Elite speed, and was a Prolific ball winner at tac cup level. He's being groomed to play off the half backline at Essendon this season and will eventually move into the midfield later in his career, so I'm not expecting to have large disposal numbers.

I'd expect him to be very exciting and provide a lot of dash out of the backline, however he's not particularly tall so I can't see him taking many contested or intercept marks. I think he'll average a little less than mills did last year , but still above 70.

He's one of the most afl ready draftees though, And will be given every chance to cement himself a place in the team early.

Really does depend how he goes in the JLT cup for me at his price, But if he's tracking for 17-18 disposals a game it's going to be very hard not to pick him.

...and Woosha don't play kids.

Haha, he sure played a lot of them last year. But that was out of necessity not choice.

Parish, Heppell and Merrett have all been instant best 22 from the moment they came to club and I can't see McGrath being any different.

My current setup. If JOM goes well in the pre season comp I might downgrade Coniglio to JOM and use the cash in my backline. I'm likely to change my team around again before that though

Everyone is putting such a reliance on Witts, personally I see him as a bench option. Has 2 years of a 70 average. One of those he played 20 games in so yes he could have some durability this year which is fantastic but the point production just isn't there. He has a career high of 135, great but only has 6 career 100s which just isn't enough for a starting ruck, he'd need to average well over 105 to be any form of keeper. I'm look at him as a cashcow, just like McGrath, McCluggage or Ainsworth he's just an expensive rookie. Ideally if he is to start in my team he'll be around 450k come the bye and I'll straight downgrade him to a rookie which would allow me to upgrade multiple positions at the same time while the other teams have their bye's (would work even better if someone like Darcy Cameron or the like were playing at the time.

I honestly can't understand why everyone would be taking such a risk, especially with no cover when he could be pumping out 60s regularly. Best case scenario he averages 85. Worst case he averages 60 and is out within the first 6 weeks of the season

Thanks for the time you spent replying.
Makes much more sense now.
If he is picked round one, hell probably get a look in.
