Just a general comment. Isn't it amazing how few players are finding their way into SC teams from the premiership favourites? Almost like the hawks of 3 years ago. Pretty much every position covered but no absolute standouts when it comes to SC. Reckon Coniglio will be worth considering at some stage this year.

Only Shaw (I wont be picking) and Shiel (If Champion Data treated him like a Pendles he'd be a 120 average)

But they are just sooooo even that none will consistently stand out week to week

^With that ruck combo, good luck sleeping at night! haha

Witts is incredibly durable believe it or not - its just his scoring ability that remains to be validated

Sandi is Sandi - 100 to potentially busted

If anyone commits to that combo then I and others would be committing to a two trade correction if one went down - thats the gamble I guess

7 ain't enough to compensate for that ruck setup.. :p

what is the difference between having Witts at R2 (acknowledged by all and Sundry at GC that he is the number 1 ruck and it is his spot to lose) - say he scores 75-85 and Fyfe at M7 versus Grundy at R2 and a mid rookie - either way you are spending 750 odd K for 2 players.

I just don't understand the instant dismissal of the concept

Witts will be a close watch during the JLT. I can understand going in with him at that price if he goes okay in the preseason. But him AND Sandi is just a risk too far IMO.

Me either. And with no convincing mid rookies having emerged, that's the plan I'm going with too.

We could end up with a heap when teams are named Rd1 but for now, I'll happily take Swallow as M8.

Freo play 6 of their first 9 at home. Geelong & Dogs are only top 8 teams they play in that run, both at home.

Rd 10 he's either mooing or your keeping him.

So many risks to deal with weekly.

Vlastuin is a huge unknown, never averaged more than 76, also only played 22 games once in his career. Only 1 100 last season and 7 in total his whole career, a potential move to the midfield is all well and good but whether he can actually score and sustain a score is a bigger question. I assume with cash in the bank it'd be a straight swap with Hartlett maybe if he doesn't come up by round 1?
Rockliff speaks for himself, durability lacking, consistent scoring is lacking also, he tends to come home stronger than he finishes too most years backs up the season with a higher average than the beginning. Big upside but also massive downside
Fyfe coming off a broken leg could take some time to work back into it even though he's done most of the preseason
Witts on field makes your mids look nice but I'm really questioning his scoring power, averaged 70 twice, one of those years as the #1 ruck I think there will be higher scoring rookies cheaper in other lines, be it you have cover in Ryder but he'd have to really turn it on to become a keeper as a ruckman
Ryder hasn't played in a year, averaged 85 in his last full season which won't make him top 15 forwards come the end of the year, he'll be sharing load again this year, yes with Trengove but still sharing
Roughead again hasn't played in a year, less of a risk but still a risk whether he can step straight into his former self

Maybe take some security and remove one of these risks

We get 30 trades now with imo is way too many, makes it easier to take risks.
I'll back Vlas, the bloke tonned up 3 times in his first 6 AFL games before being shafted by Dimma. Can agree with you on that one being a risk tho.
If Rocky does break down again it's not hard to trade out a bloke that's most likely still gonna be 550k+, on the other hand if Rocky doesn't break down it's gonna be an awful lot harder to trade in a bloke averaging 120+
Fyfes gonna be fine, he might miss a game here and there but Fyfe has always done that. Nothing new.
How's picking Witts any different to anyone playing McGrath, McCluggage, Knight etc? Is it just because he's on the ruck line? If he's named round 1 I expect him to outscore and generate more cash than those blokes.
And with the other two I'll back them to get back to their former premo heights.

how is JOM a shit pick?

he has one Round 9 bye premo, he will be fine
Because his knees are made out of the same stuff Hartletts brain is made of :p
