Looks a strong team. You're paying top dollar for Docherty and I'm not a huge fan of Rance but each to their own. Fwd line stops pretty quickly after F2 but you've got to take your rookies somewhere I suppose.

It's been known for a while that Beams would not play the first JLT games as we don't play next weekend. As long as he has a good hit out in one, or better still both, of the remaining games and pulls up ok. If not then start waving red flags.

I do really think this is a viable strategy this year.
There are some risks, sure, but we all take risks in one way or another.

Downgrading Williams for another rookie Def and rolling that coin into Beams will get you another uber-premo mid and minimise some of that risk. Still some cash left over too...

I come on here thinking i have some balls with my team then you dish up that. not fair!!
I don't mind the strategy here though.

Here's mine:

My defence is solid with a couple mid-pricers. 1 hoping to finally be SC relevant and the other hoping to bounce back after a poor Sc year.

Midfield isn't too abstract but still have those 3 mid-pricers.This has been my mid setup for a week now. new record?!

Rucks. 1 premo, 1 mid-pricer. Keeping a close eye on Sandi fitness and injuries. Goldy will have another great year. Gawn too pricey. Think Goldy & Gawn will both score similar.

Forward isn't the strongest position. Still only the 2 rookies on field. not really sure on Ryder but i feel i need him as Sandi backup. Roughy was a lock for me. fully fit. will be interesting how he does tonight. Gunston is my pod. rumoured that he might play some time on the wing and rotate between forward & wing.

All rookies are place-holders for now.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

2. Danger. no explanation needed. LOCK
3. Myers. didnt go all that well last night, will need to do more to cement his spot in the side. WATCH AND SEE
4. Gawn. only top tier ruck that has no doubts over him IMO. LOCK
5. Swallow. Interesting choice. I personally havent considered him yet, due to injury history. If he performs in JLT, he is in. WATCH AND SEE
6. McGrath. too expensive for possible output. can only see a 65-70 ave from him, which will make you a slow 100k. PASS
7. McCluggage. see McGrath
8. Roughead. LOCK. former top 5 fwd for 367k. thanks. now captain, any doubts people had should be gone by now. LOCK
9. Dahlhaus. not a lock for me atm. too much value in the fwd line to fit Dahl in. Still think a 95+ ave is imminent. UPGRADE TARGET
10. Ryan. placeholder, see JLT form. heard he was injured for some of the summer. WATCH AND SEE

Goldy has had an interrupted pre season, wouldnt start with him. Daw also a worry for him.

nice midfield. nothing wrong with it. depending on rookies elsewhere, possibly one premo short.

Dont think Docherty will go 108 again. somewhere between 100-104 for me. will lose cash, so id get him as an upgrade target. Shaw not sold on. getting old and Williams/Wilson becoming more prominent. Laird a solid pick. Ive got him. reckon he can go 100+ this year.

JJK is an interesting choice. he will have his ups and downs. Dahl and Macrae are solid. Rough is value and a lock for anyone who wants to win IMO.

overall solid team.

Seems like a whole lot of risk in the midfield with no real improvement in the back or fwd lines.

This is my version 1, been super busy. Rookied up to the max (placeholders!!), will be looking to cull one of the 200K rookies, also downgrading Doc is looking likely to try and beef up the FWD line, but no one is really grabbing me. Will have to get a look at Heeney, and Lobb is a speculative pick, but he might be my POD risky golden ticket this year, JLT pending. Ruck DPP potential and a goal kicker in an attacking team is tasty.

no point picking Lobb as he wont get ruck DPP until next year. think he can go 80+ but not enough for a keeper
