I put Butler in purely because Here2tellyouwhy says he's the LOCK OF THE CENTURY. It was so oversold that I still can't tell if it was sarcastic, because I have no idea who or what Butler is.

Interesting exercise. Set a minimum av for each position imo, or manually remove the lower value non-keepers and replace with rookies, and use the cash to get some safer picks elsewhere.

I've had a play with expected rookie valuations based on the last 2 years to include rookies in the model.

Top 15 rookies by value (pts per $) over the last 2 years by starting price (sub $140k, min 7 games average rd's 1-10)



The positions are a rough M-M-F-D repeating assumption.

The model adds 4 rookies to the starting 22, leaving 9 for the bench totalling $967,250 if I take rookies 5-12.

To cut a long story short, I get the following




Next exercise might be to lop 5% off my expectations on discounted players.

How I pick my team:

1: Go with my heart over my head when picking players

2: Overload on injury prone players that were half-decent 5 years ago.

3: Fill my team with Mid-Price traps that keep my team stagnant for the whole season.

4: Pick negative PODs.

5: Pick the least valuable most expensive players

6: Awkwardly shoe-horn rookies into the side.

7: Wonder why I don't win the $50k.

4 on field cheap rooks might be a lot compared with last years R1 starters (eg Tippa Adams turned out onfield worthy by average, that's about it). Then again everyone keeps saying what a strog draft year this was. I am budgeting to have 2 onfield cheapies and 2 exp rooks (eg Weitering, Mills last year).

If you rate Hartlett at 92 I would remove him from consideration, can downgrade Doc say (overs according to your predicted) to get the cash for someone else.

I see a lot are going with swallow at m7. I feel that if you are going that way you need to back him in, make him m6 and spend the leftover cash on upgrading to a premo somewhere else.

You could turn a caddy/ green into a bennel/ real premo.
Would be looking to bolster your mids first. Most would be running with 5 premos and some with Beams at m7. You will get left behind with only 4 mid premos.

G'day again everyone. Looking forward to another year of pissing my spare time up against the wall. Here's my first real crack at it this year. Like most, I know SFA about the rookies and they will obviously change. I've tried to make a multi-positional team with the ability to transfer on any line. Some of the names may change, but I'd like to keep that flexibility. I haven't considered the bye rounds either at this stage. Happy to hear thoughts.
