Version 3 - 35k left
- I'm 80-90% set on this structure but if the any of the expensive rookies look too good to miss (McGrath, Scharenberg etc) then I'm in trouble.
- I'm also 80-90% sure I'll scrap this structure and start again
- I've given up on the Jobe Watson dream at M7 and have opted for pretty boy KOTD Rance down back but he may turn into Roughead up forward/Swallow at M7.
- M3 will be between JPK and Paaaaaaaarker.
- It's going to be a long preseason :drunk:

Without knowing for certain what Rookies are likely to play I am mainly just messing around with team structures at the moment. This one is loaded forward line and midfield but very light defence and bench. Planning for SC is not very important before the preseason imo.

Black Shadows v.69 - I think I am starting to get there.

Basic strategy behind my core picks is to stack the midfield chock full of premiums. Solid rucks and forward line, backline is a bit risky but also offers the potential for great reward. Am looking for decent cash from rookies for upgrades around the byes. I've stayed away from the expensive rookies as I think the cheaper options will offer far more when it comes to cash generation.

Obviously rookies will change depending on JTL form and who gets the call up for R1.

Backs - my thinnest, taking a few risks but I see the opportunity for some big rewards.

Laird - has been solid and with the prospect of midfield time is a lock.

Hurley - I'm expecting a big year from him and he's very well priced. I'm about 90% sold on him and think he offers great value and will end up as a top 10 defender in 2017.

KK - reports are he's in very good nick this pre-season, I see huge potential in him to score well and is keenly priced. Yes there is risk but risk I am prepared to wear.

Marchbank - similar view to KK. Could bring Scharenberg in instead but prefer Marchbank at this stage.

Mids - stacked to the max!

Danger, Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, T Mitchell, Heppell - should all be keepers. I hummed and haahed about Danger with his price but

Rucks

Goldilands with Ryder in the forward line. Gawn just too expensive hopefully will be able to grab later in the season. Strnadica for captain loophole.

Forwards - not entirely settled but reasonably happy at this stage.

Boudoir - locked and loaded

J Macrae - 90% locked

Heeney - expecting him to spend a fair bit of time in the midfield and to end up as a top 10 forward this year.

Ryder - should be solid and is great backup for Goldilands

Roughie - expecting him to really shine after his time out.

$2,300 left in the bank!

Would personally cut a fwd and add another genuine premo in def. Looks a bit light and would give a more balance structure imo. At this early stage, there looks to be more 100ppg def than fwds.

Version 2. No idea about the rookies aside from Myers. Watson I'm not sure about either, will see how he and Beams go in the pre season before I decide which one to pick.

Lots of mid price risks mate. Can see it going terribly.
Hurley for example. Year out of the game to start with. Key position defender. Only averaged over 85 once in his seven seasons. Never played more than 20 games in a season. And now all of a sudden you expect him to become a top 10 defender. Highly unlikely..

Solid team. I'm a big fan of the structure.

I like the Doch pick. Fairly obvious pick but to spend that much on D1 is a bit risky. That being said only he and Shaw can match midfield premos for points. IMO D4 can make or break a season so I'd keep Hibberd as a placeholder. 70 vs 100 ppg by the time the bye arrives could be over 300 total points. That being said selecting Doch should offset an underperforming D4. If your D4 exceeds your expectations you're laughing.

Can't fault your midfield. Would consider squeezing in Beams but this would require downgrading a few premos. He's a risk but has a very high ceiling so keep an eye on him. Don't mind having two rookies when you're fielding five super premos. Mitchell is a great choice. Wouldn't be suprised if he leads the comp for disposals this year. 110+ season beckons..

Rucks are solid as. Can't go wrong with either Goldy or Gawn with Sandy, Stan and Ryder doing their thing.

Forwards are decent but I think McCrae should be first picked. Lynch is a good POD.

Danger, Pendles and Gawn will give you the best captain choice possible.

As for the rookies, they're rookies..

Really excy in rucks i know. But i just really don't want Ryder, and i can't take sandi without some back up.
Light in the fwd's. Want to slip Bennell in there, but just can't with The expensive Gawndy setup. If harley has a good pre season comp, i may have to compromise.
