Shocker of a decisions. Just goes to prove the selector are two faced losers. Tell a young kid to piss off after two bad innings, keep an old player who hasn't made a score for an entire summer, because he made some runs a sometime back. Hughes made two centuries in one match.

Just goes to prove the Australian team is a little boys club. The sooner Australian cricket gets a cleanout at all levels, the better.

Bah, in all seriousness North was saved by the series being sown up. Selectors know he'll have this test plus a few shield games to find some form before they decide on the team for NZ. He's got the ability and I hope he turns it around, but he definitely needs to HTFU, he never arrests our collapses - that's what worries me the most.

Stickman won't be able to do that so I'll attempt to find 10 batsmen better than him at the moment. Hodge is retired so is not counted.

Since North is currently under fire at the moment then I guess the other five batsmen in the team are better than him.

The two best bats in shield cricket in Klinger and Rogers are better in my opinion.

Jaques was better but has yet to return to decent form after his recovery from injury. I'm uncertain if Khawaja can be considered better. I'm taking from Stickman's line of thought that he considers Hughes better.

8. Hughes

North is clearly better than White and international performances suggest North is better or at least not worse than Dave Hussey. Hodge is retired so is not considered.

Queensland have no decent batsmen.
Little evidence to suggest that Bailey is better than North.
Apart from Klinger, none of the other South Australian batsmen are better than North.
For Western Australia, North's performances in Shield have always being ahead of Shaun Marsh. The difference has being rapidly decreasing due to Shaun's development but you can't say conclusively that Marsh is better than North. Talentwise yes but perhaps not performance wise.

Conclusion: There aren't 10 batsmen in the country who are clearly better than North.

Just curious but why do you believe that Dougie will be dropped before Siddle?

Just as I expected Hughes has been released from the squad I heard the most ridiculous thing yesterday that the selectors have shown faith in North.But when it came to Hughes they chucked him straight out the door when he had a couple of bad innings.While North has had a bad whole summer while not bowling at all and can't catch for sh!t.

hughes was dropped because the whole world saw very quickly that he had a flaw in his technique and was being found out by some quality pace bowling.

whilst it was only a few test matches - there was also a few prelim innings as well.

north probably doesn't deserve his spot - and if he fails again will be dropped - however there is no one obvious flaw for Pakistan to exploit.

you do realise hughes debuted in sth africa a tough place to debut with lots in pitches for quicks and also had to play against guys like steyn and ntini.

They knew about his short ball weakness and targeted him.
he was able to handle it and did well.
2 poor games and he was shown the door.
Cant expect a guy so young and in new conditions to not have a few failures in his first 10-20 games.

Reason he was dropped thoug is coz he came in to replace injured katich.
Katich is now back so takes that spot.
They dontwant to drop North YET so no room for him in team.

There isn't another test match in Hobart for two years.

And yeah siddle's prolonged ineptness for the summer is why he is in line to be dropped. Johnson save for this match performed well. Thus he is not on the firing line

Siddle was in piss poor form for four matches. Johnson has been in piss poor form for one match. Hardly a fair comparison.

Sorry I mean, Siddle was "really really really really really really unlucky" in like every match EVER and this unluckiness has nothing to do with the fact he constantly bowls too short

Exactly my point, we don't go and berate Mitch Johnson and call for his dropping now because he underperformed, Doug bollinger could not get a wicket with the new ball but we don't criticism him

Bit rich to say he was in piss poor form for all four matches when one he was clearly injured and he genuinley did bowl without luck in others. I just feel people have gone overboard on the siddle bashing this past summer, when not really warnted, and im wrapped he has now shown what he is capable of and getting rewarded for it.
