Team for Qualifying Final

I've got a sinking feeling that Byrnes will stay in if Stokes is suspended :(

Wash your mouth out! :p

Seriously, I don't think so. Varcoe's game was pretty good. Out of the 4 fringe players Byrnes was the least effective, IMO. That doesn't mean he was poor as (apart from his shocking turnovers in the first quarter) he was a reasonable contributor to the team.

He better not. He and Gamble would be the first two I'd drop (Gamble hasn't done much the last 2 weeks). Next out would be Varcoe I guess. No way in hell should Prismall be dropped, and Taylor did ok on Riewoldt last time, which means he plays.

Personally, I'd be surprised if 4 changes were made, can't see more than 3.

It sucks that there is not a bigger bench... Should be a bench of 8 with limited changes

Gamble adds another angle to the cats attack. I like him in the side but not sure if he is in front of others

Anyway, I think that Varcoe must stay in the side. He really creates a lot of havoc for the opposing side trying to move the ball and he is one of those players who seems to be involved somehow in many of the cats' goals

I like Prismall. If Kelly isn't right, Pris should stay in

I think it comes down to Wojo or Rooke. I don't think they can have both without taking out too many forwards

Byrnes MUST go out

Whatever they do, I don't think they should drop both Varcoe and Gamble if Stokes is suspended. It takes a lot out of the forward line

In: Mackie, Wojo or Rooke, Kelly
Out: Byrnes, Stokes, Gamble

Trust me, it makes my blood boil even when commentators confuse Byrnes and Stokes!

This is my team for Sunday:

B: Harley, Scarlett, Mackie
HB: Milburn, Taylor, Enright
C: Kelly, Selwood, Bartel
HF: Johnson, Mooney, Ablett
F: Chapman, Lonergan, Stokes
R: Ottens, Ling, Corey
Int: Prismall, Rooke, Blake, Hunt
Emer: Varcoe, Byrnes, Gamble

On the assumption that Wocjinski doesn't get recalled (and of course he might), this would be my side exactly.

Out of the 4 I guess fringe players (Prismall, Varcoe, Byrnes and Gamble), to me Prismall is by far the first selected. He's done enough hard yards and deserves a finals berth. Plus he played well on the weekend. Again.

Same here except Wojcinski in for .......... have no idea to be honest, either Rooke or Prismall I guess, but how stiff would Pris be to miss out.

I'd have exactly the same team except Monica on the Em. list ahead of Byrnes

Wojcinski loves to cut St Kilda to shreds.

The thing that impressed me about that 2nd clip was that he was pretty much running alongside the ball all the way. He was in front of Scarlett, ran past Bartel and Kelly and got the handball receive. Brilliant stuff!

I'd say he should be an automatic inclusion this week. One thing the Saints lack is leg speed, and he has it in spades. :thumbsu:

Official Team for Sunday:

B: Harley, Scarlett, Mackie
HB: Milburn, Taylor, Enright
C: Kelly, Selwood, Bartel
HF: Johnson, Mooney, Ablett
F: Chapman, Lonergan, Stokes
R: Ottens, Ling, Corey
Int: Wojinski, Rooke, Blake, Hunt
Emer: Prismall, Byrnes, Gamble

this will also be the squad against the dawks

Would anyone agree that Wojcinski should come in this week and Rooke shouldn't, leaving Prismall in the side?

Wojo has some good form and match practice on his side, Prissa is firing and Max has been struggling to have any impact of recent.

I know it won't be the popular opinion, especially considering how many of you have avatars of Rooke belting guys/etc.. the guy seems to have a cult following.

But can those who can see past the toughness that is apparently so important see that Rooke's contributions have not been that great and don't warrant a spot over Prismall.

Even Gamble, who threw his body in at contests just as hard as Rooke does on the weekend but proved once again that he has superior finishing skills.

Food for thought.

Max will come in. Every team needs a wrecking ball in the finals and Max is our bearded sledgehammer.

Max is absolutely essential! Bomber knows this, so does his team-mates! I think it is also true about Wojacks love for the saints, and i would expect him to lineup, unfortunately this maybe at the expense of Pris...which i would hate to see.

Any word on Luke Ball yet? I can't see the Saints being dangerous without him, but when he is up and playing, Luke Ball is a real solid player and a danger for us! I am not sure who Lingy will go to, probably Dal Santo or Hayes, he would destroy both...Dal Santo is typically soft against us and doesn't do much without a tag so im hoping Ling goes to Lenny.

And for god's sake, can we mark up on Goddard - he is the softest player in the league, but can use the ball well. Kinda plays the luke hodge position, sweeping from the backline - i would love to see Max play a forward role on him and just deny him any uncontested ball.

Besides that, we should be sweet - Riewoldt will kick a few, but he's a good player, but not good enough to win a game of his own boot!

Go Cats!!

I can see what you're saying because I don't think Rooke has been in great form for quite a while now.

However, Rooke is rated very, very highly by his team mates and coaches for the role he plays and for the way he goes about it.

Barring a training mishap, there is zero chance that he will not be selected this week.

Yep, that looks right. Prismall is dead set unlucky, but 23 don't go into 22. If Kelly or Mackie don't pull up, then he is in.

Match ups :
Rooke is needed and will probably play defensively up forward to stop the run of Goddard or Gram.
I'd give Mackie first crack at Riewolt as he will be able to run with him. Otherwise Taylor is the backup.
Scarlett get Kosi at FF.
Hunt for Milne.
Ling to wear Dal Santo like a cheap suit.

Cats easily!!!!

the rest of the conjecture is people trying to get their player up
prismall is unlucky, but would seem likely to play 16-20 games next year

Wojcinski loves to cut St Kilda to shreds.

Just great to watch again, thanks. Wish he'd do it more often - could be a GREAT player, altho I think he's so team oriented that he holds back that little bit (which is what makes the Cats such a great team). Talk about cake and eat it - guess we all just want the lot and more!!!

This should be our line up Ablett is needed in the centre sqaure we must start with Ablett, Corey, Bartel, Selwood on ball that gives us a mix of creativity strenghts and speed we can then expose the saints lack of pace in the middle SOUND GOOD my eyes are lighthing up already
