What do you mean by "get a game in front of "?

As far as i can tell there are still positions in the midfield and interchange up for grabs.

He has played in the probables and played in the NAB cup and the last game in WA, so as i said i would be surprised if he didn't play.

Sh*t mate just a question.

Of the fringe players in his position, which will miss out for him?

I don't know and it might depend on match ups.

But from the NAB cup games he would be ahead of all the rookies, as they can't play anyway, and possibly JJ and maybe Monfries and with Hocking out, he is the likely replacement.

Reimers along with Lonergan could could also fight it out with Peverill and Johnson for the last spot on the bench!

based on the number of guys fighting it out for the last couple of spots, Bendigo should have a decent side this year - as long as the seniors don't cop too many injuries.

Just read a training report from friday on Bomberblitz and it seems Winderlich could be ready for round one as he was training with the main group. Jobe, Welsh and Hocking (apparently groin injury out for 3 weeks) were in the Modified group.

So good news with Winders but wonder why Jobe was in mod.

Knighter said on Bomber.tv that he will play with Bendigo.

Not sure about Jobe.

Matthew Lloyd will lead the Bombers against North

ESSENDON captain Matthew Lloyd is a definite starter in the round one clash against North Melbourne on Monday according to coach Matthew Knights.
Adam McPhee is also a starter but Andrew Welsh will miss due to a hamstring injury.
Knights said Lloyd's training during the past two or three weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury had been first class.

“The great thing about him is he’s going into a new frontier as captain, he’s got a lot more younger players in the team with him and he’s going to enjoy that challenge," he said.
Knights said strong pre-season campaigns from young players such as Sam Lonergan, Bachar Houli, Jay Nash and Courtenay Dempsey would also pose welcome selection dilemmas. Overall, the Bombers would have a new look in 2008.
“We’re going to have seven or eight players in the team who didn’t consistently play last year, be that through injury or form or selection, so we will look a bit different," Knights said.
“We are going to attack the game differently, but in saying that, the reality is our senior players are still going to hold the key for this team because they’re the guys that are going to be consistent on a weekly basis.”

Knights said he was excited about what is “a new era and a new dawn” for the football club.
“I think it’s the great unknown for all of us. Supporters, members, coaches, players," he said.
"We understand that our young team won’t be intimidated. They’re going to go out and play hard and play aggressive and take the game on. I’m going to do things my own way and I’ve got my own views on football.”
The former Bendigo Bombers mentor said he didn't have any butterflies leading up to round one, as yet.
“I think it’s important for me to stay calm and relaxed and I think that rubs off on the players,” Knights said.
"I’m really a stickler for making sure I’m giving all my players that one-on-one attention that they deserve and that’s the biggest challenge.”

Got to expect Lovett-Murray to play as the lead up half forward now. I wonder what McPhees role will be considering he probably isnt super fit.

Andrew Welsh confirmed out.

Bombers begin a new era

Matthew Knights admits to heading into the 'great unknown' as he prepares for his first match as a senior coach.
Essendon heralds a new era this season with Knights replacing legendary coach Kevin Sheedy at the helm and the name of James Hird - arguably the club's greatest player - not on the list for the first time since 1991.
The Bombers showed some strong signs in the pre-season, reaching the semi-finals of the NAB Cup and blooding a number of promising youngsters.

But even Knights is unsure as to how the Bombers will go this season - although he promises a game-plan built around attack and flair, starting with the Round 1 clash against North Melbourne on Easter Monday.
"I think it's the great unknown for all of us - supporters, members, coaches, players," Knights said after a spirited training session on the beach at Port Melbourne on Wednesday.
"They're going to go hard and play hard and play aggressive and take the game on. What flows from that I don't think anyone's sure. Come Monday we'll wait and see what happens."
Knights confirmed that captain Matthew Lloyd is a 'definite' starter against the Kangaroos after overcoming hamstring tightness, but defender Andrew Welsh would miss.
As for being one of four debutant coaches in the AFL this season and taking over from the legendary Sheedy, Knights said: "It's very much a new era and a new dawn at the Essendon Football Club. I'm going to do things my own way."

Johnson and Peverill named on the field on the footy show :(

Rama, Nash, NLM, Jetta, Dempsey, Houli, Johns, Lonergan and Reimers all named on extended bench.

Just hoping the footy show just made a team up. I would hate it if Pev and JJ both played.

Who's writing the teams for TFS and what are they smoking?

First they named Welsh

Second they named; Pevs and Johnson on the ball...

Agree with you donsman, if JJ and Pev start in the middle i will be filthy. Have until Monday so i wouldn't take much notice into the listed team. One thing, was Lovett's name on there? If not, does that mean he has no chance of playing?

Dissapointed about JJ and Pev on the pitch but like they youth on the bench hopefully : Rama, Nash, Houli, Reimers/Jetta/Dempsey

I know how a footy club works champ. What was Lovett's punishment? Was it missing the preseason cup games? Yes. Was it missing round 1 as well? No? So why would it be a sign of relenting for him to play round 1. It, of course, would not be. A Lovett without a warm up game is worth more than most of our team. I would be amazed if he didn't play.

Also, the idea that we had such a successful NAB cup that we don't have to play the best players is completely insane. Absolutely ludicrous.
Any sign of Lovett????
