Bad outs but not too bad ins in my opinion so I spose we can't complain.

Absolutely fantastic to see Leppitsch and Bradshaw in-form especially Leppitsch who only just got back.
We can play both at either sides of the ground. :D

Good looking side. Pikey has had a consistent year yet again and Fly is quite a big loss, imo. But i'm sure McGrath will do the job and also fantastic to see Notting back in.

We're lucky we're playing Bulldogs this week with Fly out of the side. He's obviously an important part of a forward line as we were exposed without him against Sydney, and to some extent against Geelong, as both those teams moved out of defence way too easily against us in the last couple of weeks. We should still be able to kick a big score against the Doggies' weak backline.

How long is he out for, does anyone know?

It is a very interesting week coming up. It seems that there are 4 players fighting for 2 spots in the team. All 4 of these players have the opportunity to really promote themselves in the pecking order with a big game against the Dogs. My view on each of these is:

Robert Copeland - the forntrunner of the group due to his consistency down back. Willingly puts his body on the line and takes out a dangerous forward. Would like to see him get bigger roles.

Aaron Shattock - very versatile. Good run with role against Corey last week, and expect him to get Johnson this week. Was adept down back when required, and pops up with some important goals. Needs a big, four quarter performance to give himself and the coaching staff that extra confidence.

Tim Notting - the most talented and most frustrating of the quartet. Has shown glimpses of unbelievable talent, whether on a wing or up forward. Needs to grab a game by the throat for an extended period. Probably has to work on his defensive side a bit as well.

Ash McGrath - seems to lack confidence sometimes, and really needs to back himself and take more risks on the field. Could be the ideal replacement for McRae. Needs to lift the intensity and number of times he charges forward with the ball.

A very good summary cj.

If Matthews is to be believed on the mental affects of being a fringe player, not being sure of a place in the team, it must be difficult for all these blokes.

Copeland leads the pack for me, with the Shattings and McGrath to follow. Notting opportunities have been limited and really needs to show something this week.

McGrath's place on the list is probably secure though as he can play as the logical replacement for either McRae or Ashcroft, and possibly as a midfielder.

Is it worth trying to get brother Cory from Essendon?
