Reckon Hardingham can go well against him. Dyson seems more a running off the flank player than a genuine defender.

Goof call.

Think Dyson will pick up Schneider - Who plays a high half forward role and wanders into the midfield.

In all seriousness, thank God for no Gumbleton.

Don't know why the disparaging comment about Siposs... kid's got talent.

Should be a genuinely interesting game.

I've had a think about it and I would prefer the dreaded "3 ruckmen" to this.

This is especially since both TBC and Ryder are different players to the ones we last used in the setup.

Hardingham --> Milne
Hibberd --> Saad
Dyson --> Schneider

Demps on a wing.

i'd really like for Hibberd to take Milne.... i fear if Hardingham takes him we will lose his third man up ability because he will be busy minding the crumb. (or worse still lose milne in the contest because he did fly)

ive lost count of the amount of times ive seen hardingham fly over the back of a pack this year to spoil over the boundry.... its been a great asset.

Hibbo did that great job on SJ last year.. he has it in him.

i've actually been ultra confident about this game all week but i'm starting to get a few pings of doubt. They are no easy beats, and they have their backs to the wall. If we come with anything less than our a-game anything could happen.

hope we all arnt taking this too lightly.

Don't mind the changes.

Thought the Dyson in is a smart move considering St Kilda's biggest strength is their small forwards.

Would've been nice to see a tall replace Crameri but I guess we'll just have to stick to the bomb it long to Davey strategy.

Teams - as I see them lining up:

B: James Gwilt, Beau Wilkes, Tom Simpkin,
F: Alwyn Davey, David Hille, Leroy Jetta

HB: Sean Dempster, Sam Fisher, Sam Gilbert

HF: Jake Melksham, Michael Hurley, Kyle Reimers,

C: Nick Dal Santo, David Armitage, Jason Gram

C: Brent Stanton, Ben Howlett, David Myers

HF: Arryn Siposs, Nick Riewoldt, Adam Schneider
HB: Michael Hibberd, Cale Hooker, Courtenay Dempsey

F: Stephen Milne, Justin Koschitzke, Ahmed Saad,

B: Kyle Hardingham, Jake Carlisle, Dustin Fletcher,

Foll: Ben McEvoy, Clinton Jones, Lenny Hayes,

Foll: Patrick Ryder, Jobe Watson, Heath Hocking

IC: Farren Ray, Leigh Montagna Jack Steven, Jarryn Geary

IC: Nathan Lovett-Murray, Ricky Dyson, Sam Lonergan, Dyson Heppell

So basically Heppell/Myers/Melksham will move a bit further up; Dyson slots in as a half-back. With no Crameri, Watson will spend some time @ HF as that 3rd target and Myers spends a bit more time in the middle. Hibberd on Sipposs seems a logical match-up for size & athleticism.
I'm not really sure about Beau Wilkes' role - forward when Kosi rucks? Or full-back on Hille/Ryder? Simpkin is a promising player but I think he'll struggle on the really big boys. {Wilkes is a struggler and I think he'll struggle also but that's by the by}

Our flexibility makes these changes good. Numerous options for going tall and small in defence and attack depending on the flow of the game, yet we maintain our midfield balance from the past few weeks.

I have to agree with Slats, thought wtf when I saw the changes in isolation but when you look at the team lineups I think we have every base covered.

Dont get sucked in as to what the team sheet says people, Hardingham, Hibberd along with Dyson will play in defense to combat their their 3 smalls. If we are lacking a tall option Carlisle can be moved forward as the saints only have Riewoldt and Kosi as their tall forwards.

Four quick forwards for Saints says there is no way that Hibberd is playing forward.

Lovett-Murray is a good chance to provide the strong body and run that Crameri normally does on the forward line. Reimers also likely to be encouraged to lead up more. Watson getting a bit more time up forward, slight adjustment to Hurley's role, Hille in the goal square, Reimers leading up a bit and Crameri can be covered fairly well over the next two weeks. Though I wouldn't be happy bout that against teams like Hawthorn, Geelong and Adelaide in the coming months.

I hope Hocking puts a hard tag on Hayes and Myers goes head to head with Dal Santo but with a bit of a defensive mind set at the stoppage.

I'd also say that Reiwoldt and Kosi are an interesting match up for Carlisle and Hooker. I'm concerned that if their mids can have a bit of space to deliver both tall forwards there might have too much mobility for Hooker. I also think that both will be too strong for Carlisle. I get the feeling Fletch will go to one of the smalls like Milne.

With Jetta, Reimers and Davey up forward for us and Saad, Milne, Schneider and, oh they dropped Milera, both teams will often have three very attacking small forwards. This could greatly reduce the run out of the back half for both sides. Not just because of the tackling pressure they can bring to bear but because small defenders will be in a defensive mindset. For example Demspey may take Saad or Schneider and would be loathe to run off him if there is a good chance he'll be hurt the other way.
