If ever i saw a team lifting goal it was the second Brisbane goal of the match, halfway through the second quarter.

For anyone who has the game on tape, just have a look at the lead up to it, Vossy was cannoned into by Scott Burns, but instead of lying on the ground from the knock he bounced back up, went into the pack, got the ball and dished off a handball to black who goaled. He was clearly hurting. I thought it was a great piece of play and it mustve lifted the team to see him bounce back up despite the hurting.

I reckon the goal from 'The Guvna' displayed the steely resolve that can be associated with the overall performance of the team on the day - along with many other Premiership teams.

there were a few 'steely resolve' goals i reckon....

a) browndogs was a corker
b) lynchy's third quarter on a 60 degree angle, and for that matter his last goal for the day - how much pressure even if it was only 25 out and almost in front..... sheesh
c) shaun hart's snap in the second was a corker
d) vossy's late in the third was equal to buckleys

I have thought for some time that Mick Conlan was the only other player I've seen that could really snag left foot goals .. but not a patch on Aker.

So the winning goal - had a touch of 86 Elimination Final about it. Not quite as dramatic but hey it was a GF.

It was the curse of the ol' number #12, eh OldLion! ;)

Yet again, a fairly average day from a Lion-wearing #12 in a cut-throat final - and yet again, just as in '86, #12 delivered the goods when it counted! ;)

BTW, OldLion, are you the bloke who is often at Reds games, who wears a fairly oldish sort of Fitzroy jumper (the old maroon version), with fairish hair . . . and I think I've seen you with a YoungLion on occasions too? :)
