And I wouldn't even think twice. Very good, consistent player, but I can't remember ever playing the Dogs and thinking "Shit, how are we going to stop Brad Johnson?". I can't say the same about any other player there. Johnson out, Yablett to the pocket, Roo to the bench.

JOHNSON, BRAD
Career: 348* Games/547 Goals
2000-09: 224*/445
All-Australian Team x 6: 1999, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006 (c), 2007
FFC Best and Fairest x 3: 1999, 2002, 2006

Like I said, very good consistent player. The other 3 never played as the sole forward target of their teams though as Johnson has.

It's an all-decade team, some very good players are bound to miss out. You'll never convince me he's better than any of the other guys there.

We're not talking about quibbles over forward pockets, flankers or spare midfielders here.

We're talking CHF.

That said, Tredders was shafted in 2005 despite having identical stats to Pavlich and actually leading his team into September. [Link]

Unlike Riewoldt, Pav and Brown who've all been given token pocket/interchange/flank positions over the journey, Walls, KB and co decided he wasn't worth a place at all.

I didn't mean over positions, which also proves that AA is not an accurate representation of who is the best player in a certain position. It comes down to a few peoples opinions and what games they've watched during the year (Games that involve only teams outside of Victoria are going to be watched a lot less by the AA team selectors).

HF: Mark Ricciuto - Warren Tredrea - James Hird
F: Jason Akermanis - Matthew Lloyd - Brad Johnson
INT: Adam Goodes - Scott West - Gary Ablett - Matthew Pavlich

Who would you bump out for Riewoldt because he does deserve to be in the team.
any of them apart from Ricciuto, Hird and Lloyd + Black from the midfield (and put Ricciuto in there). If I had to pick 1 I'd probably go Ablett or Goodes due to consistency.

Call me bias but whatever.

B: Darren Milburn – Matthew Scarlett – Corey Enright
HB: Tom Harley – Harry Taylor – Andrew Mackie
C: Joel Corey – Cameron Ling – James Kelly
HF: Jimmy Bartel – Cameron Mooney – Steve Johnson
F: Travis Varcoe – Tom Hawkins – Paul Chapman
Foll: Mark Blake – Joel Selwood – Gary Ablett
Int: Brad Ottens, Shannon Byrnes, Max Rooke, David Wojcinski

although he would be lucky to sneak into the side.

Brad Johnson will go down is history as more then just a very good consistent footballer for the bulldogs.

people quickly forget how dominant he was in the 2 seasons he kicked 70+ goals and well into over 300 games he still playing some good football.

Back: Dustin Fletcher---Matthew Scarlett---David Wirrapunda

Half Back: Andrew McLeod---Justin Leppitch---Matthew Pavlich

Centres: Nathan Buckley---Michael Voss---Brad Johnson

Half Fwd: James Hird (c)---Jonathon Brown---Adam Goodes

Forwards: Matthew Richardson---Matthew Lloyd---Jason Akermanis

Rucks: Dean Cox---Chris Judd---Ben Cousins

I/C: Mark Riccuito---Nick Riewoldt---James Clement---Gary Ablett Jr.

This is THE team!

No offence to Tredrea, but if I was picking a team i'd have Brown at CHF over Tredrea, and i'd have Riewoldt on the bench. Barry Hall unlucky. I'd rate the CHFs as follows:

Brown (everything a CHF should be)
Riewoldt/Barry Hall/Tredrea (Tredrea covers most ground, Hall intimidation and Riewoldt best mark)

B: Glenn Archer - Matthew Scarlett - Mick Martyn
HB: Andrew McLeod - Dustin Fletcher - James Clement
C: James Hird - Nathan Buckley - Robert Harvey
HF: Mark Ricciuto - Jonathan Brown - Anthony Koutoufides
F: Jeff Farmer - Matthew Lloyd - Brent Harvey
R: Dean Cox - Ben Cousins - Michael Voss (c)
INT: Scott West - Luke Hodge - Jeff White - Matthew Richardson - Adam Goodes - Peter Everitt - Chris Judd

Must have played until at least 2003.

Felt that players such as Carey did not contribute as much "in this decade" as players such as Lloyd and Brown, hence he is left out. When I say Farmer, remember the "Melbourne version" of Farmer who was dominating particularly 2000-2002. Mick Martyn is the other one that I wasn't sure about, but I know he was a champion player. Should Shannon Grant be in instead of Farmer?

Any other changes?
Isn there a place for aker and luke Darcy in the team?

Ablett jnr may be dominant but he hasn't been for a whole decade, also Pav playing on half back ? Jimmy Hird is definantly the best choice for captain.

Tried to pick a team that would win a game of footy. And so thats why I didnt chuck 6 tall forwards in the forwardline even though some guys are majorly stiff. But shit that was hard. :thumbsu:

Ablett's completely dominated 3 out of the 9 years, which is good enough for me. Pav can play anywhere, he is a utility, can play mid, on ball, KP. He's be great on a back flank. I think he's been selected as AA at CHB and FB.

One ruck is enough

That's debatable.

and it's Cox every day of the week.

My post was aimed at those who had Lade/Primus/Darcy over White, if they chose to have a second ruckman.

I haven't had a very long look at this thread but, from that list, I'd bump out either Pavlich or West.

All very tough decisions.

Felt like going with an old school 3 man bench?

I don't see how Hodge could get a guernsey. Shane Crawford wouldn't be a certainty in my team and I'd have Riewoldt in there, probably ahead of Pavlich. Ablett would be giving the team a fair tilt too.
