Team selection definitely needs to be best players and at to our strengths. With lynch out I think its just JR8 and cumbo forward with a mosquito fleet. Balta and Tarrant back, with grimes 3rd up, broad and vlastuin is competition best. Miller has to bide his time. Rumours of Broady heading to Perth this year so positions will open up, but we have to play players in their best positions for the rest of the year and I think that means we ruck with soldo only and give nank a rest.

This week is drop Miller to move balta back and drop nank for another forward, best available. Edwards to play his 300th and then he goes to sub and replaced by best available

Dimma has taken responsibility for a couple of our losses this season which is a good sign, better than someone like Hinkley who always blames the players.

That said, team selection doesn't cause dumb decision making from players who should know better.

The coach is responsible for every loss and not just a couple. That’s a bad attitude to blame the players for the rest of the losses. Selection, poor discipline and failing to adapt to the rule changes now implemented for two seasons starts at the coaches head. ATM it stinks like a dead fish one.

There are a few factual things that may assist you in your anguish here LIS.


1. The team Richmond has named is 0.9 cm shorter on average than the team Port has named.


2. Port have made height neutral selections:

Out Marshall 198cm & Georgiades 192cm.

In Teakle 204cm & Houston 186cm.



3. Richmond have made a near neutral height change:

Out 194cm Grimes

In 196cm Gibcus


4. At the time of the team being selected the Adelaide forecast was for rain earlier in the day likely clearing by evening. Whilst this now seems to have changed, the selectors cannot be expected to know a weather forecast is going to be subsequently altered. Unless they are full time weather forecasters, in which case they would be part-time selectors, which we don’t want.


5. Richmond will have likely taken all 4 emergencies across with them for this crucial match. So with Edwards being removed from the emergencies, wet weather uber-expert chaos boss Castagna joins them - as insurance against the off chance the current forecast proves correct. So we are in the safest of hands.


6. The aforementioned Mr Castagna has been a veritable paragon of positive play in the VFL outfit, as reassuringly articulated by his VFL Coach Mr Steve Morris pursuant to the Smithy’s VFL Round 19 clash versus Brisbane Lions2 at the Swinburne Centre:

We looked better when grimes went out and rioli in last game. Match up wise, dixon gets tarrant and balta for the finlayson/resting ruck.

Gibcus/broad/miller are the left overs with lynch/jack already up forward. We dont need 3rd tall clogging it up.

Seeing their team and weather, we better make a chnage otherwise we are just stupid or just stubborn.

Also, bringing back castanga after a few vfl games (mind you we have look way better without him). He cant kick and gets most of his goals out the back. I dont care if he kicks 10 of these in the vfl.
