I think it would be interesting to see how well the various structures do in regards to overall ranking come the end of the year. :) Although there is the variable of what players were selected and what players were traded in and out...

SuperCoach team structure!

As we all know supercoach has opened and we are all deciding on how to structure our teams out :)

I would just like everyone to post there opinion on how they think this years teams should be set out so we can all help each other out :D

My opinion is:

BACKLINE: 5 guns, 2 rookies

CENTRES: 3 guns, 3 rookies

RUCKS: 1 gun, 1 med

FORWARDS: 5 guns, 2 rookies

feedback on this :)))))))
???:thumbsu:

Re: Sc team structure!

I don't think I've seen a team that has 15 bona fide "guns", unless you go very cheap and nasty with your reserves. Fourteen seems to be the limit.

Re: Sc team structure!

yes you are right, i did mean to put 1 gun, 1 med in the rucks :thumbsu:

Premium/keepers-rookies

What are peoples opinions in regards to what positions you should start with the most keepers.

I have gone

4 backs
5 mids
2 rucks
4 forwards

obviously 1 or 2 rookies if your super lucky can become keepers is they have special seasons.

What are peoples thoughts though on this, do you go less premium/keepers in midfield to start with because there are rookies capable of scoring big points ?

Do i downgrade boak who is my 5th midfielder and who i plan to be a premium to a rookie to get an extra forward or back premium to kick the season off with ?

All my players outside my premium/keepers are rookies i have neglected to go any midrange players this season out of fear of them being cloggers come round 12 and after.

so what do people think ?

Re: Premium/keepers-rookies

You've got more keepers than everybody else because you seem to have gonefor a few cheaper options.

FWIW, I don't have Boak in because I think he will score the magical 110 (He might get close and if he does all the better) He is in my side to avoid the byes. I will upgrade him to Ablett come Round 10

Upgrade a keeper to another keeper? Not sure if that is the best use of a trade.

Quite the contrary.

Last year I would have laughed at people doing it but hear me out.

I will have one premium that misses no games. In these games I will score at least 50-70 points more than having a rookie in there. So in the end that's a difference of 200-280 points.

That's well worth one trade IMO, as I should be able to straight swap, unlike the upgrade/downgrade approach that eats up 2 trades.

I will also be trading in the likes of Pendlebury after Round 13, Montagna at Round 14, even Hodge Round 19

But it's only two more games of having a non-rookie than if you had, say, Ablett (or anyone else) starting and you didn't use a trade.

So really it's 100-140 points. That's the equivalent of 4.2-5.8 points per game for that player that you are gaining, but at the same time burning a trade.

So starting Boak over Bartel is a better idea? cause Port dont have a bye to rd 12?

so the rd Bartel misses and a rookie plays and gets 70 odd, taking a injury prone inconssitant boak is a better way to go?

Re: Premium/keepers-rookies

The worst thing about this year, is we're looking at all the different options with the byes and putting all the effort, when this is the only year that's going to have them.

Injury prone?

He missed two games last year because of niggles.

One's score is going up and the other is going down ;)

I looked at the byes and saw that Port have the latest, and Boak was the only Port player I could conceivably pick.

one has consistantly been over a 100 for 5 years, the other never has

It's not even a Boak/Bartel thing for me, it's the sideways trade.

You are burning a trade for 5 points per game. Surely you could find a player who will make up that 5 points per game through natural improvement, and save the trade.

Never played a full season.

There's a big difference between missing a couple of games here and there and being injury prone.

Bartel 497k
2010 21 games 102 avg
2009 21 108
2008 22 115

Boak 471k
2010 20 96
2009 18 82
2008 17 84

Looks simple to me????

You can see the trend that SR is talking about yeah?

One is on the brink of being an out and out premium, the other was lucky to get there last year and could fall away this year.

We don't even know what role Bartel will play this year. Selwood is a far safer option which is why I have him in my mids and I wouldn't consider any other Geelong player.

Error in calcs - The idea is more than likely scrapped.
