The Max Warren in has got me stumped. He would have been in the bests for NB about 3 times in 3 years. Surely Jacobs, or if we are in need specifically of a lockdown defender then Hine, would be ahead of him in the queue. As an in for nahas of all people.

But it's the number Barry Cable wore for one game. I think the story goes that he accidentally left it behind his usual 9 when he arrived at the 1975 Grand Final so he wore 44 instead. Reminded me of Maurice Boyse who was a good ordinary player who had a terrible head injury at North.
