Agree on Prismall.

Byrnes getting a recall after his performance in the VFL was a joke. Perhaps it wasn't only sportinglife that mistook him for Byrne! He better not play or we are breeding another Kelly.

It's easy to judge, especially when it's the first Geelong VFL game on TV, but other than that game and the Bullants one (he was taken off at halftime as he was an emergency for the next day's game but got 19 touches in that half anyway), he has been very consistent and has been named among the best almost every week.

he cant kick for goal from a set shot.

Have you ever seen him play at VFL, with the exception of the televised game?

Tenace missed 2 easy shots at goal as well.

Well SJ did do some magical things vs the Bulldogs, which was only 2 games ago. Krusty has been a bit better (at times) than Mackie who should be known as the Wednesday morning rounds (Garbage man). Great to see Byrnes and Prismall (especially) get a run. They give 32 to the hard nuts, and he is it.

Can't kick for goal from a set shot = automatic non-selection for the Geelong Footy Club? Are you kidding me?

Which of our players can be relied on to nail one? Chappy comes to mind, um..., who else....

These players can't - Ottens, Kingsley, Playfair, McCarthy, Junior (can be suspect from a set shot), Tenace, I could go on.

Unbelievable. Give the kid a chance. Shows heart, a bit of spark, and can take a player on, unlike the rest of our sideways-kicking, backwards-handpassing side.

Apart from a few misses in recent weeks Ottens is one of the best set shots at Geelong.

Has a beautiful style, but misses more than he kicks. He kicks it straight - but quite often, straight through for a behind. If anyone has a stat on his accuracy in 2005-06 I'd like to see it. But that isn't the real issue here, I was talking about Byrnes.

Ottens has 21.13 in 2006.
and kicked 23.12 in 2005

i didnt mean that not being able to ping a set shot means automatic non selection, just an observation.

and i agree that he runs the lines and takes players on and we need players like that.

That's just a complete joke.

byrnes is one of the most exciting players on our otherwise dull list.

as much as i'd love stokes in instead of others, i value byrnes higher than stokes, show a bit more dare and is quicker. if he can improve his goalkicking he will be a more than useful player.

i dont understand why, in a time where speed is more important than ever, people are suggesting we get rid of byrnes

Glad that Byrnes as another chance. He he one of the few genuine quicks we have.

Mackie - am I the only one who values his kicking? Think he is one of 2/3 who can slot 40-50metre passes in our side. The team thinks this as well as last two weeks they are set playing through him - handball to him on Wing/Centre and direct 50m pass to Ottens leading to adjacent pocket . Clocked up 20 possessions against Roos and similar week before. Do admit - he definitely needs to add 5-8kg and double his endurance for next season to cement a place.

Sounds like either stokes needs a rest, or Byrnes needs a chance to show his worth, either to the GFC, or teams willing to give up a 3rd round pick.
Good to see Prissa is back in.
