This sucks. Sam Power was going to be my supercoach captain this week.

Good to see greenwood get a gig, has been kicking ass in the magoos. Interesting to see Cornelius and Johnstone dropped. Cornelius played a good game last week on debut. Johnstone is a big out and I'm happy its against us, one less skillful mid drilling the ball into brown and bradshaw:thumbsu:

That team is the most promising Laidley has ever selected. I am getting seriously convinced he has finally seen the light.

Everyone should raise a glass because it appears the days of fillers such as Power, Watt, Brown, & Sansbury are over.

King, Gardy, Kosi and Roo.

Ottens, Blake, Hawkins, Mooney.

Franklin, Roughie, Taylor, Campbell.

4 talls, top teams, same as us.

I see it more that Geelong couldn't get King, Blake, Ottens and Mooney into the same side in 2007 so I think we'll struggle to play our best footy with our 4 biggest guys in the same side too.

But I take your point and it's fair enough, I just see things a little differently.

Agree to disagree, hey? :thumbsu:

Wasn't there a thread recently where some bloke asked who our next whipping boy will be?

I reckon he knew something we didn't -- until now.

But you can only hold back the power for so long...

St. Kilda had better brace themselves for a POWER SURGE!

Matty and Anthony named in NB reserves some great news.

Surprised by the lack of excitement in this thread, I can't remember the last time we had so much quality youth selected in the one side.

Ziebell, Wright, Greenwood and Urquhart are the future. All exceptional young players who can use the footy and the more we can get them playing senior footy together, the better.

Power out I am fine with.

Greenwoods first two games were awful so I hope he shows us something.

I just hope we are competitive with so many inexperienced players in.

We will dominate hit outs so this is the big chance for our young midfield to play in front and get the ball out.

Awful? Can't agree with that. Whilst he did not put in a Judd or Selwood-like performance, he did OK in a side that was playing pathetic football as a whole. He then went back to the VFL and dominated. Good selection.

. I'm wondering why Urquhart is being named so deep in defence. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't read too much into how they are named on the team sheet, but with the very dangerous Hooper back (**** he is quick), Gav could be an option. He has done the job on some quick smalls before.

I thought Levi has showed a bit, but we were really struggling as a team when he was in. Has got a very penetrating kick on him. Cant agree with the continued inclusion of Goldstein, he adds nothing, would much rather have Matty Campbell in the team, surely he has to come in as a late change? Far too good for the magoos, even half-fit. Thomas usually lifts when he is in the team also. Big test for Grima this week, I havent been convinced thus far, if he can hold Browny to max. 4 goals then maybe he has a future, we shall see,

Grima couldn't have done more v Freo surely?
Started on Murphy, who while a spud, barely had a kick.
Took some good grabs, used it well and worked hard off the ball for the team.
He looked right at home at AFL level.

That aint gonna happen. He is not named as an emergency and the club is not going to burn money incurring a fine for that.

I don't doubt this at all. I'm just thinking that after two very promising games in the guts, where he was influencing the game really effectively, he is now going back to defensive roles. I'm not reading much into it either, but I would have thought that Harding could have the speed or even moving Wells from HF, where I think he is wasted to the back pocket to shut down Hooper.

Anyway, it is a fantastic and very versatile looking side! I hope we can back-up the good selections with some smooth, attractive football.
