Looks as though the Wiz may be out for another week (according to The Worst), but Matthew Carr looks ready to return. I would go with just the one change from last week's team:

In: MCarr
Out: ?? I'd say Polly based on form, but it's more likely to be Johnno.

If Jeffrey is ready to come back in, my guess is that Peaker may be the unlucky one.

Thoughts??

I agree that only one change should be made, we don't want to disturb the balance at such a crucial stage. They won't drop Polly and I reckon you're right about Johnno being the unlucky omission, although he did have a ******** game. Wouldn't suprise me if the Wiz comes back as he plays well at the G, but hopefully they won't risk him if he's not 100%.

We're simply better than the pies and unless we mentally implode again we should win this one with ease! I reckon the boys are too determined right now to start another game flat this season! Gonna be an exciting final 5 rounds for us all!!

I would like to see Medhurst out...but as people have mentioned he is no use to us being dropped especially if we are looking to trade him at the end of the season.
Polak for the same reasons, sadly perhaps Johnson though I like him in the side.
Peake had a weaker game based on the conditions, I dont think we can hold that against him.

I regularly wonder if Sabre views the same game as me.

Medhurst whilst not spectacular, has been slowly working his way back into form. His goal assists would be way up this year.

Medhurst played a good game last week setting up at least 3 goals and chased his heart out. Matt Carr will definatley come in, MJ will probably go out, he sustained a leg injury in the second quarter and looked proppy.
Other players in contention are Hayden, Gilmour, Murphy & dare I say it Macca. :D

I reckon Matty Carr won't be back. He's had a stress fracture and will need 3 to 4 games to get back to anything like match fitness. Look for him to be back against the Eagles and tag the Brownlow favourite out of the game in the first half.

I reckon Wiz is more of a chance, and not sure I'd put much faith in the Worst on that one.

I hope Dodd lines up on Nafan Buckley. I'm hoping Buckley plays. Dodd will either get towelled up or be a complete nusiance. He'll either learn a lot or help win the game.

With Presti out Wakelin might play on Pav will which be a real test for Pav. I don't reckon he's had a decent opponent over the last month. But with no other tall left Collingwood have no one to cover McPharlin or Johnson or JLo. Maybe it would fall to Clement. Does that leave Medhurst to kick a bag? He's well overdue.

Johnno's work in the air is not as good as Polly's. I think he (mj) recovers a bit quicker to mop up the loose ball. He moves the ball on quickly, something Polly has to do.

Perth having a Bye this week means if Johnno misses this game he wont play at all.

Polly could play for the Sharks but judging the pattern set earlier in the year CC doesnt like to leave him in Perth. (i think we know why)

So I guess its about who trains the house down this week.

Polly must realise he position is looking shakey. If it were me making a decision today, assuming M Carr will play, I'd have Polly playing with the sharks and MJ to MCG.

I wouldnt drop Medhurst he is too important to the forward structure without Farmer in the team.

Your not the only one.... its ok
My opinion is that he still remains the most expendable and least needed player in our team, his impact on games is minimal.
If I had a choice out of dropping him of Peake I would prefer we drop Medhurst, but as stated if we are to get something for him, he must play.

I'd have to agree with Peake over medhurst. Peake has killed them in 2 out of his last 3 games, you can't be dropped on the back of that form surely? Mundy's spot maybe in danger to make way for Carr.

Beh with 29 disposals, 7 marks and 8 inside 50's (most at sharks that week), he is ready to come back!!!

round 18
IN: M.Carr
OUT: Johnson

round 19
IN: Farmer
OUT: Medhurst

I like Medhurst and he has been trying hard, but he needs to return to the WAFL to regain some form. He'll probably be back in the team come finals ;)

Longmuir McPharlin Farmer
Crowley Pavlich Headland
H.Black Hasleby M.Carr
Walker Polak Dodd
Grover Parker Schammer

Sandilands Bell J.Carr

Int: Peake Cook Thornton Mundy

Peake could be swapped for Hayden, moving Schammer back to the midfield. Wish i could fit 23 in the team. :)

Selections tonight.

In.

M carr
Schofield
Gilmore

Opinion has it Johnno out, Carr in. Johhno to travel as emergency.

Good to see Gilmore geting a mention.

Schofield must be training OK. But I cant see him adding too much to the team.

Carr will be real bonus. On the news tonight he looked like he spent the last 2 months in the weight room. Top shelf.

Of MCarr, Gillmore, Schoey I reckon MCarr will come in jor Johnson and I think it would be good if Polly got dropped for Gilmore. Would be good to reward Happy for good WAFL form and Polly needs a kick up the butt and should regain form in the wafl.

Anyone else notice that the AFL.com match preview writers have tipped against us for the last two games and also for the game this weekend? It's starting to really ******** me off!

It just shows that thankfully you are not a selector.

Dodd is doing a job assigned by the coach, quite well.

Peake has done little wrong.

If Matty Carr is fully fit, a swap with Johnson is appropriate.

Murphy is still doing his apprenticeship and his time will come. Gilmore is unlucky at the moment.

At present, I can only see one change this weekend.

Peake deserves his spot and should keep it. For mine the pies are weak in the ruck at present, and we could perhaps afford to go in with 1 ruckman (jlo) and have a backup ruckman in Johnson. It's just an option.

For mine I'd prefer to have Sandi killing em in the ruck and floating forward when the need is there, none can match up on him when he floats forward.

The team for this weekend is spot on IMO, just don't know who to drop when the Wiz comes back. You can't bring Gilmore in, he hasn't proven himself in the games where he has played. His skills are nice but a lot of aspects of his game need working on... he is just a white version of Dion Woods if you ask me.

Dodd is doing really good defensive jobs, he surely cannot be dropped.

This article from the worst:

http://www.thewest.com.au/20050730/sport/tw-sport-home-sto131856.html

Fremantle made only one change to the team that beat Melbourne last week with Matthew Carr replacing Michael Johnson.

However, Malaxos said prize recruit Jarrad Schofield, who travelled to Melbourne yesterday, was in with a chance of being selected.

Schofield was dropped last week because of his lack of conditioning and the club said he would be kept out of football so he could complete extra running training. A back injury kept the Port Adelaide premiership player sidelined for the first half of the season, having a major impact on his fitness.

Malaxos said Schofield would train with the team today and could still force his way into the squad.
Clement also goes on about believing the side taking the field for the pies is worse than the team we beat by 112 points earlier in the year.

I have a bad feeling about this!

Its a West Australian article. It always has a dockers are doomed spin on the article no matter how unrealistic. We should win. If we don't it will be a big upset and freo supporters should be dissapointed.

Freo are always at risk against lower placed teams, we just need to hope they play with the same intensity as they have been. Just hope they play like Melbourne, Melbourne and Cats and not Hawthorn\Bombers.

Absolutely no reason why we can't win this one. Well and truly in trouble if we drop it with some of the games coming up. Looking forward to seeing Matty Carr have a run and Buckley being carried off the ground on his team mates shoulders with a big frown on his face at the end.

This is more a test to see if we can win game we're expected to. To see if we actually have turned a corner or whether we don't deserve to be in the hunt. We should win this and every supporter has every right to get absolutely p!$$ed off if we don't win because it's a game we should win.

However this is Freo 2005, anything can happen!

Fingers crossed !

I can see us losing badly here. Freo just cant seem to experience this much positiveness all in one hit without doing some to screw it up.

The media are just waiting to have another go at us!
