Erm, Parker will play every game for which he is fit until he retires, then try and slip away quietly while the applause thunders behind him.

Parker had a day he'd rather forget. Neon, leon towelled him today. Doesn't mean he's not a good defender.

But if Roger Hayden really starts to fire. He may be competing for a spot.

The thing with Parker which is different from Hayden, Walker and Schammer, who are the players competing for the small backmen position, is that he has way more flexibility in terms of who he can play on. He wasn't switched to Tarrant, but could have been. Try that with Hayden.

Can someone tell me what the logic is in enforcing a flood, then whinging after the game about the heats effects on his players? Surely Vader needs to take some responsibility for what happened to some of his players (heat exhaustion). There was absolutely no logic or thought went into that aspect of it. All it did was create a scrap that made his players work even harder and tackle more ferociously. Stupid move in my eyes.

Agreed but we need someone to step up in the small defender department. Connolly has identified we need better skills coming out of defence. That rules out Walker.

Schammer struggles to shut down AND rebound for us. Something he does very well. But he may mature into the role. At the moment his rebounding is exceptional. His ability to shut out a small forward is questionable.

That leaves Parker to play on the smalls, in my opinion Grover, Mundy and Thornton have the flexible defender spots covered, all three being capable of playing small or tall.

But its good to have depth and Parker is getting on a bit. I'm glad we can look forward to our defence functioning without him. Drum will be a handy inclusion in the years to come.

It still only leaves Hayden as a good small defender who can really snuff out a quality small forward. We haven't seen his best form for 2 years. Hopefully he returns this year.

I'm just stating that Parker will be competing for a spot like every other player in the 22.

Yeah, I'm not sure that Parker has that long left in him. If Driller, Thornton, Polak and Hayden all fire up this year, I'm not sure if there'll be room for him???

I feel strongly about this, and I reckon you and FreoGirl are absolutely talking out of your bung holes.

At round 2 lets catch up, and organise IP or someone to hold $100 bets as to who finishes higher up in the B & F. Parker versus any of the youngsters except maybe Mundy. It'll be the easiest $200 I ever earned.

(It might be the ony $200 I've ever earned. I'm pretty lazy.)

I am a big parker fan. I think he will have a spot in our side all year.

funnily enough, my partner thought it was necessary to act out the radio commentry on Sunday night since it wasn't on the telly.. she also did the action man run. It was rather amusing.

it sure is a long time and things sure have changed since the "no-name" backline carried the team when the forward line was in weekly malfunction.

hopefully hayden and hadrill can come back and find some good form, we are in the box seat...

I am disgusted with all you gimps who are bagging THE MAN, yes he had a shocker, but it just proves that he is human not a rock.

Geez he will rebound and give 100% all this season, those whipper snappers have got alot of catching up to do.

I will discuss this issue with Sabre, people bagging S. Parker should be banned.

I wasn't that impressed with the way Thomas outmuscled Schammer a couple of times...doesn't bode well for him against the likes of Milne
You think Milne will outmuscle him? Hmm...my money would be on Milne leaving Schammer in his wake ... time after time after time....Milne is a slippery little customer.

Most of the time I agree, but Thomas and Milne look the same size to me...I didn't think Schammer's body work was that good but his run through the half back line was excellent

They are shaping Schammer to play a similar role to Tadgh Kennelly from Sydney. This seems better suited to his body for mine and once he rebuilds some confidence we will see even more special things from him.
