I'm all for giving Trav a rest, but why the #$%@ would you bring in Byrnes?? Surely this is a good opportunity to blood a Hogan, Djerrkura, Davenport or someone like that? They're hardly going to contribute less to the cause than Byrnes is, so I don't see the risk.

Shannon Byrnes has had far too many chances already, is not even an AFL-standard player let alone anywhere near our best 22, and should be kept in the VFL. This is a joke.

I agree with the above makes no sense bringing in Byrnes. The only thing i can think is that maybe a stokes might be a late out which then leaves us with no real crumbing forwards??

Who knows. Also why Tenace as an emergency as well??

Seriously, if they feel the need for Varcoe to go back, then give someone like Hogan or Djerrkura a game. We know what we get from Byrnes. It's been the same thing for all 50 games.

If I see him run onto his wrong side at least once then I'm not going to be responsible for my actions!

Now that ive thought about it, maybe its not such a silly move by Thompson.

Byrnes is a premiership player who played 12 games last year incl. finals.
He hasnt had a sniff this year (5 games), so maybe Thompson is putting the ultimatum to him to play for his career on Fri night. If he cant dominate against Melb, then we know for sure that his time with the club is over and will become trade bait come end of year. If he does well, then he will probably get a gig the following week. Could be a smart move as you never know what a player is capable of when their back is to the wall and career is on the line. Just a thought.

Either that, or Bomber has lost it completely!

I was really hoping that they would try one of the young talls from the VFL at CHB. What is there to lose at this stage of the year when playing the league cellar dweller?

Don't take any notice of player positions.The last few games Wojcinski played he was named at half forward.When has he ever played that position ?

Eliza, seriously... You say how much Prismall isn't up to it, but you're always defending Byrnes. To quote you...

Looks like the club believes it is better to get AFL minutes into our senior reserves rather than give a kid a run who we wouldn't play in the finals anyway. We are playing for a premiership, 'blooding' kids is not a priority at this stage of the year.
