Im not far behind you Partridge.
Plus with NAB on the ground, we seem to forget he does take a strong defender away. And he does compete all day. Would Charlie be as effective? Dont know - cheap possies on the wing are not what is required........
If Nathan has a dodgy hip we are doing him and ourselves few favours playing him. Anyway, with Sunday games, the final list doesn't have to be announced till 10.00 on Sat morning - isn't that so?

I think so. Also, with reports that Jimmeh might have appendicitis, another change might be required.

Having just played two physical games, adelaide and roos, I wouldn't be suprised if Selwood does have a sore body (especially considering he is still a young body and missed most of last season). So with Port having contacted Kangas to see how to go about playing us physical, again, I figure it is fair enough to let him get rid of some bruises before the finals run.

Will Selwood only miss 1?

Will Joel Selwood only be rested for one week and be right for round 22, or will he be given both home and away games off before finals?

i thnk it will just be the one, missing 2 may flirt with his form and confidence levels a bit too much, at the moment they would be sky high,

on another topic, how many bronlow votes do you think he will get, i know ablett and bartel will be hogs and get most of em, but i reckon he could poll about 8-10?? thoughts...

Ah,have you noticed the team ?
NA is named in the starting 18 at FF,so he's playing.

I don't think that can stop him from being a late change though, right?

I may be mistaken. But, if there were to be any late changes then that would be the one I would pick. Doesn't mean I necessarily think it's going to happen!

Final Team:
B: Darren Milburn – Matthew Scarlett – Tom Harley
HB: Andrew Mackie – Matthew Egan – David Wojcinski
C: James Kelly – Corey Enright – Joel Corey
HF: Steve Johnson – Cameron Mooney – Travis Varcoe
F: Paul Chapman – Nathan Ablett – Mathew Stokes
Foll: Brad Ottens – Cameron Ling – Gary Ablett
Int: Josh Hunt, David Johnson, Mark Blake, Shannon Byrnes

Can't see Nathan playing this week. Bring someone else in, give him a rest, bring him back next week and see if he's any better. Of course if Charlie or H come in and kick 5, that's life.

"That's life!" No way mate. That would have to be a miracle. Charlie averages 1/2 goal a game in the forward line and H is only fractionally better. They have both played 51 AFL games, so it not as if they are still wet behind the ears.

Gardiner can still have some value as a link man across half forward, allowing Mooney to play deeper and have a greater impact on the scoreboard. Nablett has offered little for months. Playfair is a big no, no but Charlie and his mobility advantage over Hawkins might be required if NAblett doesn't produce this week.

Charlie will be required to play at CHF or FF. I could possibly see him playing on the flank\pocket but I cannot see him being of any help at the key forward positions. He may be good for 1/2 a goal.

Not saying I wouldn't be astounded, but miracles do happen! Who saw McCarthy kicking 5 against Carlton last year?

OK yeah it's almost impossible.

yeah and McCarthy was haled the Saviour of our forward line after that and then proceeded to do nothing else and get delisted at years end

I think that he done his shoulder in again not long after that 5 goal game didn't he? If I remember right, he tried to mark a short and low kick just before the grass and popped his shoulder in the process.

Picked the right side, with Byrnes and DJ coming in it gives us plenty of flexibility to cover for Selwood and Bartel, DJ can be used as the small defender and release Hunt into the midfield as well, so there's plenty of options.

Think it's obvious now, has been for quite some time actually, that Gardiner and Playfair are not being seriously considered, no matter how well they perform in the reserves; still believe, and hope, that if Nathan fails again tomorrow and they look to replace him it will be with be Rooke, on the condition he comes through okay tomorrow naturally.

And if the above eventuates, why wouldn't you? He is the same size as Charlie. He has tons of courage and is as tough as nails. He can play defence, the middle or can kick goals in attack. Max Rooke is a more flexible and physically tougher option than Charles coming into the finals.

Just watching the game earlier in the season against Port yesterday and he kicked three playing in the forward line, led up hard at the ball and provided a real target, plus his physical pressure was excellent.
As you point out he's basically the same size as CG, and I don't think anyone would argue with the statement that he's a "far" better player, so I reckon he'd be the perfect option.

Not an ideal position for him, but infinitely better then the alternative in my opinion, though I think you and I are the only two who think so Rabbi.

I just read on CC that Lingy will be a scratching. But don't tell Choco.Bloody hell.
Heard that last night , Hamstring I was told. time will tell. rang Mooney_d'king about it last night , we disgussed it and said may just be a rumour

He was down the Eastern beach today in the water with the other boys , dont know if thats a good sign or not, guess if its a stress or even a hammy he could still do some water work. The guy who told me about the injury said he was a no starter for sure. gee I hope its wrong.
