We have an embarrasment of riches now...

IMO the bench will line up as: Clarke, Medhurst, Sidebottom, Reid.

I don't see two ruckmen necessary although Wood doesn't deserve to be dropped, also N.Brown might be unlucky, there seems to be no suitable match-ups.

Cloke would be a near certainty, Medhurst 50/50 and Reid very unlikely, that would be my read on the selection, which for once I think is 100% correct.:thumbsu:

my bench medhurst brown sidebottom clarke

melbourne too short up forward for both brown and presti

Also BF team up tomorrow:thumbsu:

i would have thought you would give Cloke a extra week off since we dont play next weekend and make sure he is 100% going to Sydney. Obviously he is training well.
You shouldnt be looking at the game this way but we are playing Melbourne. The team we had out there last week should account for them so i would be giving guys a extra couple weeks to get everything right.

I did not think Cox was out of the side to be put back in.

You might mean "why has he retained his position in the side.?"

From that side, I'll take a guess at what might happen;

*Travis Cloke In, Cox out, Leigh Brown to play as backline relief.
*If Medhurst is fit, Sidebottom might be the unlucky one.

Or maybe as some suggest, Nathan Brown may be left out for a week because of matchups, with Cox giving more versatility.

Who knows, all that's certain is that the 22 will change from last week, which is actually a positive because it will mean either/both Trav and Meds are playing again.:thumbsu:

Medhurst and Cloke have both been named.

I reckon the final changes will be ...

In : Cloke & Medhurst

Out : Fraser & Thomas (both injured)

Closed training session at Goschs tomorrow and an open session on Sunday morning at 10.30am prior to the VFL match at Price Fixer Park v Port Melbourne.

There is no way they will drop N. Brown.

They will adress this by forcing Melbourne to kick long inside 50.
Problem solved, N. Brown marks everything.
If somehow they are too quick for us down back, we have a plethora of midfielders to choose from who could easily do the job.

Fraser won't play, he wasn't right on Sunday and even an 8 day break isn't enough to heal sore knees. Will be good to give him a nice 3 week break.
Wood and L. Brown to ruck, Cloke rucks inside 50. These 3 should run Melbourne's 2 ragged from the get go.

Does anyone know details on Thomas? He looked good in the last quarter..... Surely just soreness?

Closed training session at Goschs tomorrow and an open session on Sunday morning at 10.30am prior to the VFL match at Price Fixer Park v Port Melbourne.

It is a closed session for MEDIA AND OPPOSITION only. Pies fans are still more than welcome to attend, after all it is a bit hard to lock the gates and stop people from going in to a public area like that of Gosch's Paddock.

There is a gentleman's agreement between the clubs not to send forward scouts to closed sessions, that's why they label it a closed session, to tell opposition clubs not to come. Funnily enough they ended up having media at training last week, but I assume that they would have had to put in a request with the club first.

Now selection...

It will all come down to if Cloke and Medders successfully make it through training tomorrow as the side hasn't even had their main session yet due to the Monday game. I wouldn't be surprised if neither of them lined up against Melbourne with the view of giving them another 2 weeks to make sure that they are 150 billion percent right (Exaggeration? Maybe).

I watched the Dees v Saints last week and the Dees were very good and had a red hot crack. Only poor disposal let them down at key points during the game.

We'll need to play well to win.

Outs from listed team:

Toovey (Heater, Clarke & Harry O can take the smalls), Reid (no real match-up) & I have no idea. (not a small though)

as much as i don't want it to happen, my guess is Sidey will be rested..
After last weeks performance in the VFL Im surprised beams didn't get named on the extended bench..

With Miller and Martin out, the Dee's have no key position forwards except Watts.

Can't see a matchup for presti...Nate Brown atleast would cover the resting ruckman...Presti is not suited for this.

With Steele on the bench, i think he might be the one to miss...hope not
Thats my worry Dave, its not usually key forwards that destroy us especially against Melbourne Yze, Robinson, Bate have all destroyed us at times over the years.
Its the medium/smalls we struggle with so Harry O and Toobs Toovey better be on the ball.
