Yeah, I must have been watching a different game too because I did see his inside work and I did see his contested marking and I did see his man on man work and his propping up a crap defence and not shirking anything like Goldsack did, and a tough save and tough turnover. He had two poor kicks on a night when half the team played like dogs...but suit yourself.
One thing that bigfooty has taught me is tight work in close, inside work and ball winning goes largely unnoticed by many none astute football watchers. Not saying that they are dumb or anything just that there are a lot of fans who either don't notice good ball winning ability and the work in close, or don't realise how hard it is to do and how valuable it is.
Unless your running through packs draging blokes with you like Judd and Hodge winning the ball doesn't get recognised by many.
No Burns hurts .

Absolutely spot on!
The second thing you learn here is that if you stuff up a kick or two due to nerves in your first few games then you are simply a crap kick and have no skills at all and simply cannot play and should be immediately delisted.

craig or bock dont really have much say in this
if he gets bock dawes should stand inthe goal square and not move...if bock zones off then for a while all our attack goes through big dawes meaning bock will have to be accountable, its simply a similar tactic that has been applied to heath shaw so u would suspect MM would be aware of it
So just like how we beat Geelong? As good as this theory is I do think Bock will run amuck even if his man plants himself in the goalsquare. Adelaide are great at covering each others players and have done it in every game to free up someone so that they can create play off half back. Remember the Crows vs Hawks game? Bock played on Franklin kept him to 1 goal and had 35 possessions, and Franklin is more dangerous than Dawes or anyone in our forward line for that matter.
Winning this game will require 2 main things I think, winning the clearances and not letting their experienced back 6 control the game from half back. Stop there backline and you've strangled a lot of their forward thrusts.
Stanley did stuff up a few kicks because of nerves but it's not good enough. He did not play good enough to retain his spot. In the absence of Burns we wanted him to show us that he could take that step and belong in our 22 and I don't think he did. It's alright to say we need to give him midfield time but it's finals, we're playing to win not develop at the moment. Carrying Stanley into the next match is a huge risk.
Cox has been great, and to drop him and keep Stanley is absurd. With no Johnson or H.Shaw we need all the rebounding players we can get regardless of how accountable or how much less tougher they are than Stanley.
.
Yeh would much rather Bock go to Cloke so he has to be accountable and can't just run off and run a muck

Bock is exposable and certainly didn't have a great game against us last time. If you can isolate them one on one they are fragile. Bock is a great player, but when things don't go right for him, and he has to knuckle down and play one on one he is just like any other mug out there. When he's on a roll however he's a very damaging player. Even if his stats are inflated by the way Adelaide play.
If Cloke has to play on him we should make sure Cloke can play his natural game as much as possible rather than try to make him take Bock out of the game. Bock is a defender and Cloke a forward after all.
Why would that be disatrous ?
Someone will go to cloke it may even be Bock, who cares.
The point is that dawes is young and quick and can mark.He takes the pressure off cloke taking a strong defender allowing, clokey,Anthony and medhurst to cut their backline to pieces.
'We would be in trouble if we diodn't have the three talls.
Anthony, the lead up forward, drop dawes closer to the sqaure,Medhurst lurking around the forward line to mark or pick up whatever drops to the ground and clokey causing havoc on or around the 50 ark.
Perfect. Having this set up will make the adelaide defenders much more accountable and they can't run off the forwards, infact we can stretch their backline. They do not have a match up for MEDHURST.He'll kick 5 goals against them.
This is a garbage post by your standards Jabso. I know you've never been a fan for whatever reason, but you'd laugh this off the board if anyone else posted it (about any other player perhaps).
Most of the team kicked worse, with Cloke being by far the worst and even Leon contibuting his fair share. You seem to be p'd off that Stanley didn't win the game off his own boot. Hopes shattered? Not everyone did expect him to be a matchwinner. Some people hoped that he'd go OK, get a bit of a feel and go better this week. As usual, he's been given his standard 1 game to "take that step". Well that's crap - he's the only one who's been dished out that treatment.
Then where's he played? Answer? Everywhere but the middle except for a few minutes.
Who's saying Cox should have gone? Not me! But Cook? Tyson "I'll just squib this one" Goldsack? Who exactly of these "rebounding players" that we need so much "regardless of how accountable" they are, gave much rebound last week? Are you seriously saying that you don't mind going into a final with players of doubtful accountability? With SSB out you don't think a bit of courage and strength might be required? Did you miss everything he did well? Struth Jabso!
