it would very much be in line with our past decisions to play all those 3 even if it rains.

i hope we come to our senses and drop one of them for houlihan/stevenson

Yeah, too tall. Lynch out, any of the emergencies in. I think McKinley will travel, as East Perth have the week off.

We're going to be twice as bad in the middle without Priddis.

Spanger has the natural talent to be a star - its just that he is not putting enough effort in body and mind control to eliminate errors.
He has great closing speed and then slackens off and pushes the guy in the back instead of controlling himself.
Needs to do ballet/dance classes to control his body in the air when going for a punch.

hahaha. did you think the crazy subtle angles was getting old GE? :D

So I take it the general mood is positive for the inclusion of Shuey ;)

Actually I think we might be half a chance this weekend. Port aren't much chop and they are not the best going around at forward pressure (limiting the amount we will miss Hurn) and clearances (limiting the amount we will miss Priddis). I reckon Lynch might have a run on the wing - goes all right in the rain does the big man and with Wilson in the side we would be way too tall up forward if he ventured inside 50.

Need to improve a lot on current form and will be tough at AAMI but not without a chance

We will be twice as good in 2012 if we don't play Priddis once in 2011...

I think Stevenson is simply behind Waters, Shep, Smith, Butler and Hurn and in reality we can only play 3-4 of those players.

As stated by other posters I honestly believe Woosha is playing it smart in playing Lynch and even maybe Spangher to improve their standing with the rating system for GC choosing out of contract players or showing them to Vic clubs.

So apart Lynch and Embley every other player on the list for this weekend will be part of the Eagles teams for a long time to come so good to get as many games into them as possible.

Glad Shuey is back in, not so happy at the thought of how our forward line is going to function (or not) on the weekend!

The exclusion of Priddis is going to hurt.
Not sure what people have against Adam Selwood this season, he is the least of our worries! I, for one, am glad he's back.

Personally, I think we're going to be thumped this weekend! We just about always have been by Port, in Adelaide. I don't see how this weekend is going to be any different - probably just worse. I wish I had higher hopes.

Is this the first time we've had Shuey, Swift, Smith, Sheppard, Stevens, Strijk and Selwood in the same team?

This is Woosha's drafting plan unleashed. Take other teams by surprise by targeting one letter. And you guys doubted him.

If only Stevenson didn't get dropped.

I think people take priddis for granted. His is one of the best clearance players in the competition playing in our midfield with nobody to support him.

You just wait till the rest of our midfield develops ( eg, Shuey, Masten, Strijk, so on). He is going to be rather helpful.

Plus what happens if next season he gets even better, that is a possibility, if he does happen to, he is entitled to hit each and ever one of you for doubting his ability to play football.

WCE you forgot Spangherman!! Ahh. THAT is why we doubt Woosha :)

Really hope Houli gets a run for a later withdrawal, he really added some run last year when he got his chance and as with Wilson/Shuey etc it would be terrible to see him only get 1 (if that) game to finish the year.

Selwood is a virtual replacement for Priddis, but hopefully Strijk and Stevens get a bit more time around the ball. Priddis kicks in hope too much, but that said he hardly has the outside players to hand it off to either. He still wins a lot of the hard ball and forces plenty of stop plays in the middle, and it is yet to be seen if others can replicate that.

On Stevenson, he is a small bloke so I dont have any issues at this stage. A lot of the really good kicks going around thrive on getting easy, wide ball and having the time to use their weapon. And once Shep is ready, he will move up the ground leaving that half back pozzy open for Stevenson.

Good luck to Shuey, named in the middle first game back, says a lot about how highly rated he is.

because getting the ball 30 times a match and butchering it on every single ocassion with a completely non existant hurt factor is really taking the team forward?

He's a great clearance/first possession player, good in the packs, pretty good in traffic. He's slow and pretty terrible when he's in space, but at the moment we do not have one other player who has shown anything near the amount of ability Priddis has to extract the ball from packs and give it off or clear it.

And if you think that this week one of the youngsters is going to be given that role in his absence I highly doubt it, it'll probably be Selwood/Embley taking charge in the middle.

Stevenson out is a no brainer, he was awful last week with his disposal and got ripped a new one by Brennan in the first half. He will be better for AFL experience so far though and will be a better player next year for it.

Hopefully Wilson stays in the team ahead of Lynch, he cant do any worse.

Brown and Bones out for the season pretty much means Spangher will play the remaining games, get ready for a roller coaster of emotions.

Hopefully Shuey gets a run through the middle and not just played in the forward pocket again.

I like Shuey in a FP, unlike Masten Shuey seems to be able to look like an AFL player even though he is played in the dreaded ability killing FP....

Match comitee deserves big ups for playing him. I was very worried they would put on the white kid gloves and wrap him in cotton wool.

Please lord let Shuey be able to play the rest of the season injury free? and if its not too much to ask give him a solid pre season as well.

Yep, I'd be happy to sit Shuey in a forward pocket with bursts through the middle for the rest of the year.

Unlike the rest of our midfielders playing forward, he actually looks dangerous.

If he has a good pre-season, play him primarily in the middle next year...or not, whatever suits the team best.

Hopefully they'll go with either Lynch or Wilson, not both. Great to see Shuey get a run.....wish Hurn was back in though. Without Priddis, some of these young guys need to really stand up. Will get killed in clearances otherwise.

But, I'm in Bali till next week so won't get to see it till then anyway! Go West Coast.....big effort for Coxy's 200th!! :thumbsu:

I'd be happy for Shuey to permanently stay in the forward pocket for the rest of this year for two reasons:

1.
He can actually kick a goal. We get the ball inside 50 enough to be dangerous, we just can never keep the ball there and build forward pressure. Shuey would suit this role

2.
The risk of injury is MUCH less in the forward pocket. With three games to go in a abortion of a season, I would prefer Shuey to get any AFL experience. Play him in the middle next year, we know he is ready. Just be patient.

A bit like how Ben Cousins career was killed by starting in a FP
