Funny you should say that OWTS :)

I like the inclusion of Brooks. I called for it last week.

Does anyone believe that we have gone too tall in this one?

I think Brooks has been brought in as another tall forward option.
Hopefully he gets a decent amount of game time and can show his wares.
He should get a run or two in the ruck and if he can kick a goal or two he might make the selectors think about a finals berth for him.

Thompson in replaces Powell who has a niggle with his knee still.
Brooks takes Peckett's spot. Peckett is being kept safe with a groin niggle.

Blake listed as an emerg...
Must have been close to getting a game.

Will be good to see Brooks go around... hopefully will be another option for a (long) September.

I am wondering if Brooks was included to be a battering ram against the Lions. Last game ever for a few of them and we know they love to bash Saints. I would not be surprised to see Roo and Kosi spend a bit of time on the bench with Brooks doing some banging into packs, once we get it wrapped up.

Yes StKildonan, red hair - love your work!

Hard to see the coaching staff keeping Blake & Powell out of the finals teams. Peckett & Fiora would be on the fringe, and the players in this weeks 22 who would be most likely to come out for any of these four would be Raphael Clarke, Michael Rix, Barry Brooks & Cain Ackland. Obviously all four wouldn't come out, as three are ruckmen.

I like the Brooks selection - let's see if the boy can play. Might be plumping him up for trade week. I would prefer to keep him, but only if he can do the job on the park. Marking him only on this week is probably unfair. However, Gwilt showed last year you can come straight in and play good footy in finals.

Let's hope everyone gets through unscathed, as I am sure some Lions will be looking for a few scalps.

I like your reasoning, Saucehead, but suspect that one of our emergencies will come in for Maxy and Rix will go back. leaves us wafer thin against Bradshaw but we'll still be alright.

Am I the only saints fan who would rather see Craig Devonport back in Saints colours than Barry Brooks playing in round 22? The last game he played (in 05) Thomas said basically that he'd been soft and that he was playing for his future. He was useless and was dropped. When a man can't respond to an ultimatum like that by at least getting his knees dirty...

I hope to God that you're rubbing my face in this post tomorrow night, StKildaonandon, but suspect you won't be.

Huge call StKildonan! Respect! When it was called I thought you must have been on the weed.

By all accounts his form in the ressies has been pretty good, so the call must be in this non-game, can you do it in the ones son? If not he is out, but if he shows something he will not be delisted next year - no talk of finals football this year...they needed to give the old boys a rest before the finals so why not give Brooks one last fling.
