I don't like Eddie Betts being in. I think we're vulnerable to small forwards this year.
Unless Eddie can kick 6 and hand off another 4 i don't think you should worry to much.
Fev named?
Walker Out
If the blues can get with in 5 goals thats one win to ratten in my view.

Fev's injury was a load of rubbish. A 13 cm tear in someones thigh doesn't heal in a week.
Whilst it may have been a genuine error in interpretation by the Radiologist, I have some suspicion that the injury was going to be a way to "legitimise" the sidelining of sideshow Fev after his poor showing (team wise) lately. Only the sacking of Pagan saved him. Who knows?

Have a look at the Carlton squad.

Now if I was Ratten, I'd be looking at trying to heal the rift between the Bullants and Carlton FC. I'd be looking at giving everyone a run in the last 6 weeks - and especially keen to see the kids run around in the big league - find out where they're at before wielding the axe at season's end.

What surprises me are the changes:

In: Betts, Jackson, Saddington
Out: Bentick, Josh Kennedy (hamstring), Andrew Walker (shoulder)

Ins:

Betts - livewire midfielder / forward looked impressive before his injury.
Jackson - good move - see where this kid is at
Saddington - ?? um really (does this guy have a genuine future at the club) - I suppose they need someone to take on big Frase

and the outs:

Josh Kennedy and Andrew Walker both injured - forced changes
Bentick dropped - huh ??? - in and under type, good tackler, mediocre kick.
The guy is no superstar but he is a workhorse and quite useful to them in getting the ball out to their more polished players. Puts plenty of pressure on the opposition ball carrier too. Will only improve with games under his belt.

What about players like Ackland, Bannister, Wiggins, Lappin, Koutoufides???
Why play them? Why not promote some kids and tell them they've got 6 weeks to impress the selection committee. And why was Fevola severely injured and now suddenly better?

Looking at these changes - suggests to me that they are playing their "best available" list rather than developing.

Do Carlton think they can win this match ???

I suspect that they do. Maybe they are trying to ride on the emotion of their sacked coach. It might just work. If it does, then that casts serious doubt on their performances this year.

I personally don't think Carlton can win. They couldn't beat us when we were depleted through injury earlier this year - though they did put up their best effort in years.

We have a serious psychological edge over the Blues. There are very few players who have experienced a win over the Saints whilst at the Blues.

This is as it should be.

(Need I remind you of the club's indifference to our plight where we were threatened with bankruptcy..."LET THEM ROT")

And would cast doubt on the mental fibre of our side. :(

Im not too worried about this game, as long as we have a good start and make carlton lose all the 'emotions' of playing for a new coach we should be fine. im tipping us by about 40-50, i would have said about 80 is pagan was still coaching though.

Also im going to the game today and can someone tell me which end the saints cheeersqaud sits at? i always end up at the other end.

Just for your info: no radiologist can make THIS TYPE of mistake. If it was a very tiny tear, then I would understand, but a big one, all radiologists can identify it and measure it up. If anything, the mistake could have been done by the radiology technician, mixing up scans from different patients (it happens sadly too often).
