Yep it's all so clear now. The plan is to get Geelong's midfield to laugh so hard they each pull a muscle.

So true. It will look like a handball drill at training.

Shuffling the deck chairs again. Having trouble seeing what Scott Selwood has got over McGinnity, having trouble seeing what Scott Selwood's got at all, and Embley's kicking is s..., don't know what's happened there.

Scott Selwood is an excellent and i do mean excellent kick of both sizes of his body. Scooter has been great at shuting down players this year and McGinnity hasn't.

I don't think thier is allot between, Scooter doesn't have McGinnity's awarness or inside ability (best attributes) but he's a far better kick and a little more agile.

Fair comment, although Scott Selwood doesn't get a lot of kicks to demonstrate his prowess in that area, and most of them that I remember are quite short kicks. Selwood has done a couple of good shut jobs this year, I agree with that. Before he took on the tagging role he was horrible. I think McGinnity has done some good tagging roles too (e.g Rioli), of the two players I definitely prefer McGinnity at this stage, appears more versatile and smarter, better decision maker.

damn,
we are still a Ham away from certain victory over Geelong.

We still could do it if mCkINLAY AND wTERS TACKLE relentlessly.

Geelong have the biggest weakness in Aussie rules history which no one wants to exploit.

I find this fact just amazing.

Its funny how Fremantle and Carlton beat Geelong in the same manner and no one can pick it.

Thank god Mcginnity is dropped, people like him because he tries hard but that isn't good enough.

Here is to ash smith hopefully dominating in the wafl this week :thumbsu::thumbsu:

wow you should really learn how to use the 'caps lock' button... and FFS its McKinley... with an E...

I think stevenson should be a permanent fixture in the 22, Brown didn't show anything at FF last time around - so I'm not holding my breath, and Dalziel deserves his chance through good form at WAFL - at least ya know with him being such an elite distance runner, he'll still be going hard in the last quarter when others, in particularly young guys will start to drop off. In the WAFL last week I think he had 13 of of his 35 possessions for the match in the last quarter.

Terrible Team.

I mean why not give the young guys a go.
Its not like we are going to get within 10 goals of the Cats.
How is keeping Embley, Butler in and Bringing in Dalziell going to improve us for the future....

I have watched the game (v Blues) that everyone was critisizing how we played. I dont think we were to far off the mark. We wernt as bad as I expected and really without Judd they wouldn't have won. He was the differance.

Sheppard played well, and so did a few other young boys. Butler was horrid, and deserved to be dropped on that effort. Schofield was unexpectedly LAZY and needs to play with some consistancy. (watch it again if you dont believe me. Swift wasn't Bad imo and Ebert was one of our best Mids, even thou he Shanked the ball a couple of times. His attack was great.
We need to fix some small problems in our game and we could have actually won that game.

But as I said I dont see how Embley and Butler are helping our future growth.
For me Lynch and Nico were good outs. Paddy was unlucky but needs to be in the team when our opponent has more then 2 small forward types. (plus I reckon he would have played well on Chapman)
Brown was a good inclusion and so was Stevenson but I would have liked to see both Ash Smith and Koby Stevens in the side as well. I would have dropped Embley to make way for 1 of them and I would have left Daziell in the WAFL.

We are going to lose, So lets make the most of it and show these kids what the best midfielders in the Comp look like. That could fast track there development. FFS WOOSH

2 senior players in Cox and A Selwood left. You could i suppose make a case for Priddis as senior player seeing as its his 4th season and was mature age recruit.

My mistake. Forgot Embers. Still, at best 4 senior players left. Not that I don't think Selwood/Embley need to pick up their game.

Thank god Stevenson is in. I have no idea what the selection committee is doing. Everyone knows the Eagles problem is the midfield but nothing is done about it. Priddis, A. Selwood and Ebert are all inside midfielders who are slow. They should not all be in the 1 team if you are wanting to win. It's time to go Selwood.

rather him in the team than S Selwood, but agree on Smith we need speed and the boy has it in loads or at least did. SMITH IN THE TEAM ASAP

I don't buy the whole we can't drop seinor players argument.

Senior players IMO:

  • Glass
  • Hurn
  • Cox
  • Waters
  • Rosa
  • Priddis
  • Kennedy
  • Lecras
  • Selwood
  • Butler
  • Lynch
  • Embley
  • Mckinley
  • Nicoski
These guys have played enough games to warrant being named a "senior player". No reason why we can't get rid of nicoski, lynch, embley, selwood in terms of maintaining a team with enough senior players. Look at the dogs list the last few years, they have had a very little number of senior players but have still been a top 4 side.

With Lynch and Nicoski dropped the average age of our 22 must be quite low. I wonder what the lowest aged 22 is we've ever put on the field.

The average age of the WC team is 23 years and 1 month. Not sure if it's the lowest ever but it wouldn't be far off. Will certainly be the youngest team out there on the weekend.

To put it in perspective the average age of the Freo team (which is considered young) is 24 years 3 months.

Hey? We have 4 guys playing that are over the age of 25 - Geelong have 16! It seriously amuses me when I hear supporters criticise that we don't give our youngsters a go - we have consistently fielded the youngest and most inexperienced side every week this season (with the possible exception of Richmond).

I am really happy with the changes - particularly Brown and Stevenson in for Lynch and Nicoski. McGinnity was stiff but I think playing him and Scooter in the same side is probably one two many small defensive players with poor skills and he doesn't possess the same ball winning capabilities as Dalziell (and I'm sure there is a concern about simply getting our hands on the ball!)

Despite all the positivity ... Geelong just too skilled, too experienced and too good - I will be happy if we can get within 40 points.

We actually can.

See that Embley has brought out the pictures he has of Woosh again just to make sure he gets a game. Would of liked to see Stevens in. Could of learnt a lot simply by playing against the likes of Ablett, Bartel, Selwood, Chapman etc....

Other than tha not bad chnges. Guys that had to go have gone. Good to see Brown and Stevenson back. Dalziell is a bit meh but surely we can find some role for him.

Also what is Eagle Ants problem with Butler? I dont get it myself.
