I have to say Seven appear to have lost the plot a bit with the tennis covereage this year. Obviously here in Adelaide we get it on a half hour delay so its off to a bad start from my point of view but that aside. A few points

- The commentators in particular JA and Courier seem to be trying to get some kind of double act going and bounce off each other. I like them both as commontators but they seem to be going a bit overboard at all the little digs and jokes. Its good but only

- Joanna Griggs, a good host but has no idea about tennis. She has been doing it for years now and she really hasn't improved.

- They over do the super slow motion camera.

- I am not sure what the broadcast rights are but often you know there is action on outside courts including Vodafone which they have exclusive rightsto, but they refuse to show it. Even after Foxtel has its two games there is action to show, instead they show replays or 10 mins of music.

- They need to work on their updates, the other night Molik was playing and there were a few Australians playing outside but they didn't even update on any of those games to any great extent.

I have always been impressed with their coverage but think it has slipped to the point where I don't even have it on and just watch the foxtel coverage. While not as professionial if your a tennis fan its what you want for full coverage of the open.

Any thoughts? Am I being to harsh?

My only real problem with it is the half an hour delay, its ridiculous. Plus there are generally some very good matches on Vodafone, but they refuse to show any there, nor do they let Foxtel show any.

What time does Leyton Hewitt’s game start this afternoon?

I am at work and cannot see a TV screen, would it be possible for some up dates during the day.

Much appreciated

Why don't they put Home and Away on at 5:30 (Deal or No Deal is a repeat anyway) for the 2 weeks and show it live.

Channel 7 are fire buring Hunts.

Fox need to have Vodafone as part of their agreement. Seven never show it anyway and it would mean they even during rain or heat they have at least one game to show. It might cost them a bit more but would add a great deal to their coverage.

What matches do foxtel cover? Do they stick to the one court or do they go to different outside courts?

They have two courts going on, but they can't show Centre court or Vodafone arena i think.

So they just pick the matches from the other courts which they think are the best to watch. So it's usually just show court 1 and either 2 or 3 but they can change to other outside courts. Yesterday they were showing Safina on some really lowly court but then after that they went back to the main show courts for Ancic/Garcia-Lopez and Spadea/Hrbaty

They're mainly on the money with the matches they cover.

Sounds good. Personally, I'd rather watch close matches between players such as Spadea and Hrbaty than a blowout by a Federer or Nadal against an unknown. I'll have it by next years event. :thumbsu:

Yeah I agree, I have to admit this time of year I am gald i have fox as they do a good job with it plus its 24 hours so while Seven shoot off to the news like they always do when I get home from work Fox keep going.

I thought the FTA stations told us that "We had a right to see live sport free"

Apparently not

Cant believe 7 dont even go "around the courts" anymore, you used to be able to follow the days tennis just by watching 7. It only took them about 2 minutes once in a while. Not happy.

That my point, watching seven is not a good way to keep up with the tournament. Its okay in the second week as most things are on centre court,

Love using the foxtel tennis active, means you can choose between two matches. Was watching a ripper today between Stephanek and Ferrer that ch7 would never show.

yeh fox is good for the press conferences and around the grounds updates unlike 7 who want to show the garnier tent instead of scores

Since foxtel has had the coverage of australian open, they have made channel 7 look very silly. I just really hate it when they say "we will now take you to vodafone arena " (when the game was played 1 hour ago. They present it in a way, you take it as live coverage.

Its just a bit annoying because I punt on tennis in -play betting and sometimes it gets anoying when they are showing a match which has finished ages ago.

Also im not sure what its like on the east coast, but the night coverage of matches is poor. Delayed matches have never been my go and Id rather listen to drew morphett on ABC radio.

Yesterday, after Williams won her match, they showed a 2 minute slow motion clip of her bouncing aroung after her win. It could have been longer, I don't know. I kept flicking channels and when I'd turn back, it was still on. First of all it was hideous to see her body move in slow motion, but mainly it was just ********ing annoying that they found they couldn't use the time better, and maybe show some results of outside courts?

Now we're gonna get Hingis vs Nobody. Absolutely NFI.

Stupid isnt it, if you only watched ch7 telecast of the Open you really would only get to see the same players all tourny. How they can show Sharapova win and now Hingis in straights over a match like Nalbandian v Grosjean is crazy.

Fox are showing a live game on Vodafone. Is there a clause in the contract that they can show the games indoors that Seven are not, when it has rained for the whole day
