Think of the majestic tiger - both as an animal and a symbol.

Think of the colours - gold on black. Simple, elegant and menacing at the same time.

Think of the powerful "Tigerland" theme, regarded even by many opposition supporters as the best club song.

Let's face it - if Richmond were successful on the field, everybody would barrack for them

This Year, 1999 and 1998!

Collingwood is my club, always has been, always will be.
I love everything about it - the supporters, the players (especially tarkyn hehe), the atmosphere on game day, the president (go eddie) and last of all, victoria park.
um.. what else, oh yeah why my club is so good... if were talking about playing-wise, then i have nothing much to say on that, there's nothing really to brag about much, all i can say is that i hope it improves-and know it will. But if we are talking the whole club in general, then I pretty much outlined the reason I love it so much up there ^^^^^^^^^

My passion pretty much began from the moment i was born, from only months old I was dressed in Collingwood booties and beanies.
Up until I was about 4 I was convinced that I would play for Collingwood, I had my heart set on it. My 5th birthday, my birthday wish was to play for Collingwood, my parents pointed out to me that girls couldn't play football, I was heartbroken. This turned me off football for about 4 months, until that premiership win of course, when I decided that I would grow up to be the first female football player and be the next Darren Millane - so much for that ay!!

Mags - you've just shot my theory to pieces !

A long time ago here at BF I said once that in my experience of sitting with and being with Collingwood fans at the SCG I said that in all honesty I found Pies fans to be funny, friendly, knowledgable, and willing to chat footy on amicable terms with the Swans people.

In 1998 for instance I had a fascinating conversation with a Collingwood fan about the 1936 Grand Final !

So, er ... where were you sitting and what did you get thrown out for ?

Probably nothing knowing the facist no-necks that pass for Security Guards there !

cheers

I was made a member of Port in 1964, been a Port person ever since. When I was a kid I was taken to the games, and the clubrooms, the players and officials were good to me.

I will be a Port entity for all eternity, even dead I'll be there watching

This Year - I was in the public area and making a bit too much noise the sercurity said!

1999 - I was in the Scg Members area and telling all the swans fans to shut up u idiots and this old bat had a whinge that i was gettin in her way when i was trying to go to the can when Plugger was lining up for number 1300!

1998 - I was with my mates from skool and we were a little to abusive towards a couple of sydney fans in the members area! I had converted them to Collingwood now!

i just cannot prevent my love for the dees!
DEES RULE MY LIFE AND THEY RULE THE WORLD!

Already said some of this in a post ages ago, but always happy to go into it again.

hehehe. Well my whole family is Essendon mad, has been for quite some time. I kinda just watched footy not following anyone till I was about 12 and got into the Roys, my fave player was Alastair Lynch. And I just loved the Roys, not sure exactly why, perhaps it was just meant to be.

And now I follow the Brisbane Lions coz I just couldn't picture myself following anyone else, or worse, being without footy.

I saw Hawthorn underpants in a store yesterday...actual briefs. And yes, brown and yellow. My fiancee looks at me and says "well...at least the stains are well-hidden".

Poor Hawthorn...nobody gives' em a break.

I followed Essendon primarily because my significant other and her father do passionately and when I first came to Australia I wanted to share that common interest and at the same time get heavily into the game myself because I've always been fascinated by it, even as a child growing up in the US where other codes are more prevalent.

I did not choose Essendon because of its success despite that appearance; I've been following them casually for a couple of years but didn't become heavily into it until the middle of 99' when I saw the game played in person for the first time (round 16? against Freo at the G). Part of me wishes they hadn't won a flag so soon actually because there will inevitably come a time where things go downhill for awhile and they get worse before they get better again.

It's a natural choice though, because they are one of the oldest and most traditional clubs and I already have a fondness for teams that have red in them, being a Nebraska Cornhusker.

I barrack for St. Kilda secondarily because of their long success drought. The 97' GF is as painful to think about as any Essendon defeat.

Mags

next time you are Sydney - sit in the Dally Messenger Stand right at the back, Row MM, just under the big advertising hoarding. We are all Swans Members up there but not the namby-pamby "ohhh you're making too much noise" kind.

We are all real supporters up there and visiting Pies fans are usually made most welcome.

see ya there !

I barrack for Hawthorn cos when they started showing Australian Rules on TV here in England in the 80's there was this big hairy dude with a massive moustache (we don't get people like that over here!)running up & down the wing & to a 14 year old he just seemed a heroic figure so it's been Hawthorn ever since for me & I've never regretted it one bit. Also Dermot Brereton was a hero but in a much more conventional way but that whole side were a bunch of bloody CHAMPIONS Tuck,Ayres,Langford,Matthews,Platten,Dunstall,Buckanara......oh I could go on for ever the memories will never leave me.
Go the Hawks!

Thanks BSA.

Next Swans Pies Game Up There Ill Be Sure To Try And Spot Ya

But next game up there ill be behind the goals in the public area!

Lets hope i dont get kicked out at that one ha?

Had the exactly same problem with coming to England and supporting Arsenal stealth bomber - they won the premiership the year after I arrived - bit unfortunate really...

Never even considered supporting anyone else in any other code than Essendon - got indoctrinated at Windy Hill by my dad in the mid 70s and really had no choice - plus, 95% of my primary school class mades were Carlton supporters (Brunswick) so had to buck that trend....

well i go to a Jewish school in Armadale and about 90% of the football supporters there barrack for either the blues or the dons.
in my class about 85% of people barrack for the blues so it was great when the melbourne football club came to our school.. stick it right up their... lol! and winning the final against them well... that was heaven! lol

No, the mosquito fleet were just gathering momentum. Jezza was the champ of the day. Some Blues players were honorary coaches of my junior footy side and Harmesy and Buckles used to hang out where we lived. Too easy.
