He was good in the backlines IMO, and I've already said that.

He played a variety of postions after half time and was nowhere near as good IMO which is why I was curious on his second half stats.
He seemed to play better when Davey was on.

Ditto Hentschel, although I am not sure I would drop Hentschel but I would definetly drop Welsh. Enough is enough.

One of Hentschel or Welsh needs to be dropped. They aren't giving us a yelp. Trent, in particular, is simply not progressing as a forward option. Maybe a move back to defence is the best way, for the short term.

Scotty isn't presenting enough, end of story.

However, I don't think we need to overreact to this loss - as some are already doing. We lost by 4 goals to a highly-fancied team on their home ground. C'mon guys...let's put things into perspective. We just need to sort out our bloody forward line! Let's hope M.Stevens & Jericho have big ones in the AFL this weekend and get a call up.

Full marks to Perrie tonight. You can't fault his endeavour. Our only forward.

100% correct.

Too much throat-slitting going on over an honourable loss IMO. ;)

A frustrating loss...watching in the second term, i thought our workrate was good. we were'nt always very clean when it came to collecting the ball off thr ground and dishing it off, but at least we were getting in there first to get it.

The problem was that Ian was our only forward. He worked very hard with bugger all help from Welsh and Hentchell. Those two boys didnt help our midfielders...then again some of our midfielders need a good kick up the backside.

The overuse of the handball and the stupid free kicks given away by Reilly and Mattner at crucial times put the Demons back in the game.

Our best - Huddo (finally given a run up forward, fantastic around the ground), Sarge, Goody, Burton, Rutten, Thompson, Stiffy and Torney did some nice things. The rest...very bloody ordinary.

I will be interested to see how Watts, Stevo, Meesan and Jericho go this weekend. Our forward line needs an overhaul.

McLeod ends up with the ball on the boundary line running the wrong way. Then Roo ends up with the ball running the wrong way..
Actually that happened a couple times i reckon, especially when the presssure was on and the game was on the line. It didnt inspire me with much confidence when I saw that. The heart sank a bit and the blood began to boil knowing that the game was going out of our reach!

The reason there's overreaction is that we SHOULDNT have lost - if our forward line had had one more hard worker, or we had kicked straight we would have won.

Close enough IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We were good enough to win this game, in many ways we let ourselves down when we could have put the game away earlier. We should NOT have been down by 2 points at 3 quarter time. We wasted so many forward sorties and wasted such utter control of the game.

THAT is why there is a strong reaction. It was not an honourable loss where we were behind all day...it was a weak loss where we had the game for 3 quarters and then let them overrun us.

McGregors 3rd term was ok but the rest of it aint to far of the mark.We had so much of the ball and went foward so many times for nothing.I dont care where we get one or 2 from but untill we get marking fowards we are going no where[Fremantle kicked 20 goals against them last week] and neitz missed most of the second half.
Our descion making under no pressure is bad Thommo had so much of the ball in the right spot but he had no one to kick it to.Reilly should have been draged in the 3rd term had the ball at CHF and instead of kicking it long short pass and turn over,Hentschel must be put up foward and left there Burton NO NO NO.Perrie gets to so many contests but just cant take enough marks when needed like in the 3rd term when 2 marks from him and 2 goals we kick clear.Welsh needs to start leading again,Hart should have come back through north.
The question must be asked where is ANDY McLEOD.

Why is it when we lose everyone starts the MCLeod bashing. I thought he played well last night, better then 75% of his teammates.

Couldn't agree more JM. Totally unacceptable after being the better team for 3 quarters. I'm not calling for wholesale changes because essentially that's the same side that has played a lot of great footy this year, but an effort like last nights is not going to earn the club the respect they crave.

True mymansyd, but Perrie really let himself and the team down with his goal kicking. A good forward would have nailed that easy shot early in the last quarter which would have put us back in the lead. You just have to take those chances when they come.

After watching the game back on TV that shot of Perrie's right at the start of the last quarter wasn't exactly easy. He was right on 50 with not much of an angle and a good key forward would have kicked it. Especially after already missing a couple of gettable ones.
