You reckon? How about the differentiation between the back and front of the collar?
Yeah de-stroking only really works when you have a shadowing effect in use.

You reckon? How about the differentiation between the back and front of the collar?

I have a semi-transparent grey layer that sits over the the back of the collar on the front view, but below the front of the collar.

I don't have a single stroke anywhere on my template other than to outline the numbers, which is a design feature as opposed to a part of the template.

The same effect can be made by changing the colours slightly, even 1 or 2% brightness can be enough to make layers easily differentiable while effectively being the same colour without needing a stroke.

Just think of different ways to differentiate between layers and use them. Colour. Stitching. Shadowing.

The stroke is dead.

Not if you use paint. Also what if you have a white collar and a white jumper. Do you use a stroke or leave it?

What's white though? You could take a 96% brightness white and it's going to noticeably different on a white background. Then make the collar 92% brightness or similar and that will again be different enough to stand out against the guernsey body and the background. Everything will still be white enough to be called white.

Even better, use a medium grey (or whatever really) background for your template and you can start with 100% brightness white for your guernsey.

There are other ways to differentiate sections of your template than a stroke. A stroke is the easiest but it doesn't always look the best, depending on template.

The stroke isn't "dead". It depends on the style of the template.

I was being flippant but it's about not being limited by what was the previous standard for anything about a template.

rip in piece stroke

i prefer the use of a flat black or white semi-transperent layers in order to darken or lighten respectively El_Scorcho

I find that one solution doesn't work perfectly in all occasions, so i'd rather play around with colours on a case by case basis.

something like this works i guess, any thinner on the dashes and from proper sizing it looks like a solid line
Dont have stitching on the collar itself. Have a look at the ones I did recently, the stiching was around the collar, not on it

I gave my template a bit of a touch-up. I have to say I'm quite pleased with the final results.
