10. Round 7 - Geelong v St Kilda

Touted as the two Victorian sides most likely to make a run at the premiership, St Kilda and Geelong did not disappoint when they clashed at Telstra Dome in round seven.

The Saints had the edge on Geelong in the early going, with skipper Nick Riewoldt impressing in his first game back since breaking a collarbone in round one. Coping admirably with the absence of key talls Fraser Gehrig, Luke Penny and Aaron Hamill, St Kilda led by 13 points at three-quarter time of the entertaining affair.

Darren Milburn played a lone hand for much of the first half, but his team-mates warmed to the task in the final term as the Saints valiantly tried to hold them off without the services of the injured Robert Harvey, Aussie Jones and Justin Koschitzke.

The Cats had their tails up by now though, and ran over the top of the tiring Saints to record a 19-point win.

GEELONG: 4.1, 7.5, 11.8, 18.11 (119)

I saw that article. Sydney were in the top 4 games. I think that the writer of thsi article (can't remember his name) presumes close games are good games. Half the sydney games were extremly boring in parts but were extremly exciting towards the end but only because they bottled the game up.

Here here, Sydney even though they won the flag were overated, there were some games that they really didnt deserve to win, the semi against us for example, had it not been for Nick Davis pulling a flukey goal out of his a$$ sydney would not have made it to the premlims.

Is that a case of sour grapes, or are you serious that Sydney are overrated?

Unless the Saints had of won with a few list any other team ifeel could be classified as overated, i don't think either the Swans or Eagles were brilliant sides but thats the nature of the comp in 2005, the Cats could of won and also of been classified overated

still get sick of the whole N.Davis thing, if any of our forwards stand up at any stage of that game we win, but for the 2nd year in a row we don't which hurt us again

n.Davis could of kicked 8 goals in the last qtr and it wouldn't of mattered as we should of been miles in front, i just hope i am alive to see a flag and i am 26, my dad is 48 and never has and i feel sorry for him

Broken record. Another great post from della. Are all 177 of your posts the same?

Can't blame it all on the forwards. We got flogged out of the middle for the 2nd half. Lucky that the Swans were inaccurate in front of goal in the 3rd quarter, otherwise we could've easily been 2 goals down at 3/4 time.
