His best is our worst. He might be of value somewhere else but not at Geelong, especially not on the HBF where he turns the ball over way too much. Why this guy is not criticised as much as what Byrnes is on Bigfooty I don't know...at least Byrnes offers something.

I think he can offer something. He will get dropped if he doesn't and so I don't see the harm in looking at him early.

The harm is that one of the 3 or 4 'next up' others will now likely not get any senior game this year; and not be able to get experience playing beside Bartel, Ling etc.....

I'm not sure why the club thinks Tenace has any more cards up his sleeve. Over the last few years Tenace has proved that, while being comptent, he is not quite up to the new level of 2007>.

Surely it would have been better for everyone involved if he were to have started anew elsewhere.

Let's face it, when you've got it in your head that a player is shit, his good play will be ignored and his errors magnified 10 fold.

Not totally. I admit there were a couple of good things he did, but the bad things were really bad. I just think he's had his chance and it's time to move him on.

He's not suited to HB. At HB mistakes need to be rare and you'll find the players with the best disposal play there a lot of the time. Tenace isn't one of those players.

I don't know where you're getting this one player stuff from. It's not like we're sitting there at the ground watching what Tenace does every second. It's just a matter of watching the entire team, with the efforts of Tenace standing out.

Sure? One guy mentioned on here he was watching him after contests were finished and followed that up on the replay as well!

Papers put him in the best and Thompson praised him after the game.
Stats support that view 23 disposals with no more than 4 turnovers.

Tenace had 23 possessions off a half-back flank against the Crows, a performance which won praise from Geelong coach Mark Thompson.

Nothing I saw on Saturday gives me a shred more confidence in him. The 23 touches were most in junk time and the quality just wasn't there. The way Geelong plays, 5 effective possessions are a LOT more important than 23 ineffective ones. Gary Ablett also had 23 touches to put my point into perspective.

"He has got ability and we're going to try to give him opportunities and find ways to get him a game. He's got a big part to play by playing the sort of footy he played (Saturday)."

Find him a game? What is this under 12s?

"Over the pre-season, I just tried to work as hard as I could on the track and hopefully it pays dividends," Tenace said.

Unfortunately its awareness and kicking skills that continue to let Tenace down. He may have pace but doesn't have adequate awareness to use it. Thats where Byrnes has the advantage. Tenace can get as fit or as strong as he wants but it won't improve this.

Yep, and at the time I was calling for Mackie to be cut and had serious doubts about Enright. I was especially harsh on Corey's disposal at the time as well. But there poor performances were not as consistent as what we've seen from Tenace.

I just don't get why they keep giving him a crack. Enright and Corey I could because of the potential, and Mackie I was wrong with mainly because he was played, unnaturally, in the forward line.

I'd be happy to admit I'm wrong if Tenace does something special, but I just don't see the benefit of him playng when they've given him so many chances, while blokes like Hogan and Djerrkura, both from the 2006 draft, both who have performed well in the VFL, can't even get one game.

Even then, who should Tenace come in for from our best 22? I can't see a spot.

From memory? Where did you get the efficiency stats I can't find them anywhere. As for Scarlett, from memory, his turnovers came from long kicks down the ground to contests, not blatantly poor kicks into the corridor near the 50m arc right into the oppositions arms.

I think the Herald Sun site or AFL. Just clicked on a button that included disposal efficiency with all the rest and from memory Scarlo was 75%. Given it's NAB Cup not sure they have left those tables up as I checked it post match.

I think you are splitting hairs RE what constitutes turnover acceptability.

Don't know about that. But we're just going to keep butting heads over this which is pointless. Guess we'll just have to see how the season pans out.

Don't get me wrong, I like Kane, I want to see him do well like I do with most young players, but I just don't see his benefit in our team.

Running half back can be filled by Wojcinski who is proven in the position. Or Hogan or Djerrkura should be given a chance before they want to leave because they can't get a game. Not a guy who has been given chances every year for the past 5 years and not delivered.
