Starting off with a big play on Stosur to def Peng @ 1.55

Australia a chance to win the Hopman cup @ 3.50 after beating russia, not backing them yet though.
USA v Russia, Tursunov @ 1.67 to def Fish looks alright too.

A big win for Stosur last night to get the ball rolling.

I like Philippoussis @ 1.90 to take down Haehnel in straight sets tonight.

Got a bit lucky there, Scud down a break and does his knee.
On one hand i I was hoping he couldn't continue, on the other i hope he's ok. VOID :)

nicole pratt to win the australian open, get on board
Agreed, should start favourite but got a feeling she’ll be a bit longer like 1000/1, make them pay.
Sure she lost 6-1 6-0 to Hingis yesterday but it really was a lot closer than that. Could have gone either way. Just a few lucky shots and favorable line calls were the difference.
So what if she’s ranked 100? It’s more due to bad luck than anything.

Hingis goes down to Safina on the Gold Coast.. bit of a shock there but what a match. I admit i lost on Hingis winning outright @ 1.80.

Henin Herdenne out of the Aus Open opens the door for the Womens.

On the mens side, is anyone game to put money in the Bank of Fed at 40-45% and have funds tied up for 2 weeks?

No way, sure he might but he's shaky in Australia, he got taken out two years ago and last year he was a set and a break down in the final
I remember it well.
Last year i think he started 1.70 pre tournament and in the final was 2+ down a set and break to Baghdatis.
I think the 1.45 is one of those bets you make if you're going away for two weeks and don't want to sweat it out.

He's about the same odds to win the AAMI Classic actually.
Problem with that is, Best of 3 sets in a warm up tournament against big servers like roddick, Ljubicic & less motivation it could slip away a bit easier.

Nope, but 28% in the Commonwealth Bank Series looks much less stressful :)

Last year he opened $1.50

But you're spot on about going away and not wanting to sweat it out, and let's face it he probably will but I never like to take something that short at the best of times, and it's too stressful over 2 weeks.

Mind you I had half of last years winnings on Baghdatis at $14 (before Nalbandian semi) and would have netted a pretty massive amount, so I was annoyed at myself for not betting live and laying off when Federer was $2+, but I truly thought Baghdatis was going to win

I remember Fed was 1.50 for Wimbledon..thought it was a bit more for the Aus Open 1.57 maybe?

But yea I was in a similar situation, had a fairly big position on Ljubicic outright.
You can have a great position but it doesn’t really pay unless someone knocks Fed out.
As for backing Federer i wouldn't touch it until the quarters because it's not really going anywhere.

Some great tennis and strange results already.
Pratt beat Safina tonight, who beat Hingis, who beat Pratt 6-1 6-0.. go figure.

just a question if u backed fed in each of his matches in the oz open would u get better then 1.40, i know it depends of who he played but i think it go like this.
round 1 1.01
round 2 1.01
round 3 1.02
round of 16 1.05
quarters 1.07
semi 1.14
final 1.20

now i have gone very skinny i think and that comes to 1.59.

ps if pratt even makes it to week 2 i will bare my bum in bourke street
let alone win it.

Problem is, it might not work that way. If the big players are bundled out early you wont see $1.14 and $1.20, that's the risk you take.

From memory, at Wimbledon Federer never got above $1.07 until the final (Nadal), and if he had've been playing anyone but Nadal you would've been better off taking $1.50 pre tournament

That adds up to 1.50 from where i'm sitting.
But yea roughly works out that way.
Regarding Pratt, i was taking the pi$$ of course..
